bedtime issue HELP!

Need some advice PLEASE. The last 3 nights my 2 1/2 year old has decided that bedtime is a no go! This kid used to run off to bed, no questions asked. We have our routine and nothing has changed. When we say "go get some books" he knows that is sign #1 that bedtime is around the corner and he now fights, fights, fights us on it! If we get thru the books then he stalls in other ways. then we get him to his room one way or another and the tantrums begins.
Everything I read says routine, routine routine...the problem is the routine seems to be what sets him off. Like he's thinking "oh, no...I'm not falling for that trick!"
Is this just normal toddler behavior and a phase (like everthing else?).

ugh we had the same problem!
if the routine is now annoying him change it--we stopped books (for bedtime) and started a massage from Daddy instead. we also reinstated the bath as part of the routine (it helps get them into pajamas without fighting)

and i find instead of telling just doing works--like i sing rubber ducky your the one as my daughter is shouting IM NOT GONNA TAKE A BATH..and eventually she follows me. its rough though..now we are in a good groove again but it can be hard. also try changing the bedtime--making it really early or later for a while...

I agree with the previous poster. Logan started to do the same thing about 2 months ago.... bedtime became so stressful for both of us.. and he wasn't falling asleep until 8:30 or 9pm. I ended up having to change up what we did slightly... and change how I deal with him not listening. It look the full 2 months to get him back to going to bed normally... but now he seems to only call to me 1-2 times after I put him down, rather than a million times before... ugh. Good luck!
