Does your toddler do little chores around the house on a regular basis?

I wasn't calling them chores but maybe that's what I could call them....

Rachael is 3 1/2 and I have been having her:

-put clean utensils in the drawer

-throw out garbage (this is probably the biggest chore)

-pick books off the floor and put them back on the shelf

-put unfinished drinks in the fridge

Clean their rooms, put toys away in living and dust. DD 4and DS 3 love to dust.
They love to help. They set their places at the table and clean up their dishes.

Laundry! We go to the laundromat, and it's a super big help to hand her one of the super big baskets and have her load/unload a dryer. She LOVES to help, and I don't have to bend over and try to get the lower dryer cleared.

I don't worry about tracking it, although I'll usually give her a little treat as a reward, but I've had good luck with simple completion charts with her older sister in the past. We just had a little piece of paper with a grid, and when she completed a task, we'd color it in with crayons. When she fills up the paper, she can turn it in for a dollar store treat!

Ds1 is 3.5 and he takes care of his dishes after every meal, helps us load and start the dishwasher, puts clean dishes away, puts dirty clothes in the laundry Hamper and assists me with picking up toys. We do a sticker chart for jobs and listening and when he fills it up he gets to choose bounce house, gattiyown, chucky cheese or golden corral. :)

It sounds like she's doing great with this! Do you track her chores or write them down at all? I'm thinking of getting a chore record of some kind but not sure what to do!

Isn't it great how willing they are to help out at this age? I just love it!

Oh, awesome! Your DS is doing fantastic! I love how you allow him to chose from things to do when he fills up his sticker chart. Where does he select to go most often?
