I was reading your earlier post about your DS sleeping in his "big boy bed"...can you give me some advice/suggestions on how you moved him from his crib to a bed? My DD is going to be 3 in August, and she's STILL in her crib. I plan on getting her a new bed before she turns 3, but I'm concerned about how she'll change her sleeping patterns. I don't honestly think she'll even STAY in a regular bed...so if you have any advice...THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

Becky :)

Not Jen, but saw your question so thought I'd tell you how we moved ds to his big boy bed when he turned 3. That will give you an answer and bump your question up to the top

We talked to ds about moving to his new bed and made a big deal about how when he turned 3 he would be sleeping in a big boy bed. He went with me to pick out the sheets and was involved in shopping for the bed. After we moved him to his new bed we kept the night time routine the same. He surprised us by staying in his bed. It did take him longer to fall asleep at night as he was so excited about his new bed for about a week or so. We've never just put him to bed and expected him to fall asleep though. Our routine involves stories and then songs until he is just starting to drift off to sleep.

Thanks for the advice!! We had also decided to let Haleigh "shop" for her own bedding for her new bed...she's already chosen Dora the Explorer, so I know she's getting pretty excited about it. She's pretty scared of the dark, so I'm thinking of getting her one of those lamps that light up the ceiling with stars, shapes, pictures, etc...do you know what I'm talking about? I think she'd like that alot.

I'll keep you posted!!
