Hello ladies,

My daughter just turned 3 last week and I'm ready to ramp up potty training. I did the portable potty on the floor starting at age 18 months and she went once or twice and then regressed and was not interested. I have since given these pottys away and am now training on the toilet with steps. I have tried EVERYTHING (Rewards= jelly beans rarely works anymore) (Potty videos such as Elmo's Potty Time and Potty Power from Amazon.com) (Books) (Talking about it gently) (Sitting her on the potty and saying time to go potty) etc. etc.

Yesterday, she wore panties and learned to take them on and off, She then sat on the potty. She was SO EXCITED about taking her panties on and off. Tried it again today and she wanted nothing to do with panties and actualy said "I'm a

Sabrina,

I'm in the exact same place you are with training. My guy will act all interested one day, but not the next, and we are rarely seeing success. He'll go potty in the toilet before he gets in the bath, but that's it. I need to step it up too!

What I'm going to do is go 100% undies during the day (I'm starting this next week). I'll give him tons to drink and then set a timer for every 30 minutes to remind us both that it is bathroom time. I know we'll have tons of accidents, but I'm optimistic that if I do this day in and day out, we'll find success.

Have you visited the Toilet Teaching & Beyond topic yet? They have a lot of great advice to share too and I'm sure they'd love to hear from you.

Honestly, what helped my daughter most (she's 4 now) was seeing her peers go to the washroom.

Somehow I've managed to potty train 2 kids using the same method. From about 1 1/2, I sit the child on the potty every night before bath. After he goes pee a time or two successfully before bath, I evaluate other signs of readiness (pooping in a corner---or in some way acknowledging that he went, not wanting to sit in a wet/dirty diaper, some interest in taking off clothes, knowledge of potty words). Then I do 2 days where we stay inside the house with no clothes on the bottom. On day 1, we go no where, and on day 2 we'll go outside for about an hour (potty seat in hand) with the child in undies. If they go in the undies during that time, i let them stay in it for a couple of minutes to know how it feels. Anyway, after 2 days of naked training, I introduce underwear and that's it. No more diapers except during sleep-time. My younger son just potty trained 2 weeks ago at 2 yrs and 4 months (which i thought was a little young, but he met the criteria and has done great!), my older son was pee trained at 2 1/2, but he requested a diaper to poop until he was almost 3 1/2. we had major (and still have) constipation issues with him, but he knows is almost 4 and uses the potty successfully for poop as well.
