Ok so our daughter is 3 yrs and 4 mo's, we are thinking to get rid of her naps. She plays so hard most days she falls asleep at quite time, but then at bedtime (8pm) she is up messing around till 9:30-10pm!!! It's driving me nuts. I have things to do. I'm assuming this means she is ready to give up her nap. How long does it take them to adjust and any tips, advice, etc?? TIA!

My oldest boys were done with them around the age of 3.5- and your daughter is really close to that age. How long does your daughter sleep right now when she lays down at quiet time? Perhaps you could cut down the amount of time you allow her to sleep for now and see how things go? If she's still falling asleep on her own, she may need a bit of sleep but is possibly sleeping for just too long. Good luck and let us know how things go!

My 3 yo still takes his pm nap, and now he too doesn't fall asleep til 9 most nights. We put him to bed at 730 and he just babbles in his room til he falls asleep. Can you tell your daughter just to stay in her room until she falls alseep rather than give up the nap?

My daughter turned 3 in December and gave up her naptimes all by herself about 2 months ago. Like you daughter, she would nap, but then be up until 10:00 and fight us. Finally, I stopped fighting her on napping, and she stopped fighting me on going to bed at 8/830. It is hard without a nap because I also have a 17 month old, so that little bit of alone time was wonderful! Now, when my 17 month old is napping, my 3 yr old thinks that is play time with me!

She adjusted decently. I would follow her lead though. Its a tough call to make on if it is better for no nap or to go to bed later. I think for our own sanity, earlier bedtime is better, lol.

Good luck. Hope she transitions wonderfully!
