Pillows and blankets

My ped said it was ok to give pillows & blankets in the crib (my boys are almost 2yrs & 3yrs.) Do you give your little ones pillows & blankets? I did give my almost 3yr. old a blanket about 6 months ago, but no pillow. The youngest

My 3 YO DD has pillows and blankets in her bed, but she didn't get them until she moved out of her crib and into her "big girl bed" at 2 years, 3 months. Even then she didn't get a pillow right away (and it was summer and she didn't need a blanket). I was really worried about her suffocating, probably way more worried than I needed to be. She has obviously done just fine with them, but, like you, I checked on her a lot in the beginning. I think it's because you hear over and over when they are babies not to give them pillows and blankets, it's hard to let go of that worry.

Landon does have a pillow and one blanket in his bed. He is 2 yrs 7 months old right now and he's had a pillow in his bed for about 2 months now. He used to sleep all over the bed but now he stays put with his head resting on the pillow so he must love it!

Eli had a pillow at about 2 years...a flat one to give him some elevation due to allergies and congestion. He has always had a blanket ... his lovie. We used to tuck it into the mattress at chest@level when he was younger then at 2 I just let him sleep with it.

We introduce pillows and blankets at a fairly young age. I think around 12-15 months for both kids. My feeling is if they are mobile enough to walk, they are able to get their blankets off their heads :)

As soon as my son could move around easily by himself we let him have a pillow and blanket. Now, at 3, he has his toddler bed FULL of pillows, blankets, and stuffed bunnies. He has his normal pillow, but there are these two round bolster pillows that he refuses to sleep without, and then he also decided that all of our plush throws were his blankets, so he has 3 of those, and then his stuffed bunnies. There's hardly room for him in the bed, but he does just fine because he wiggles around so much. I think the suffocation worry is more for when they are babies and can not roll over on their own, at 3 my son will throw stuff out of his bed if it's annoying him.

My 2 y/o has a small, thin pillow and lightweight blankets in her toddler bed.
