At about 7:45 last night we had a warning alert come over our TV that a 7 year old child was missing. Well...it isn't uncommon for this to happen and then an hour later they come across the TV again and say that the child has been found at a friends house. Well...the alerts came on every hour or so last night...we get up this morning and turn on the local news and the child still hasn't been found. They are, at this point, calling it a Child Abduction and they have issued an Amber Alert all over Illinois!! Let me remind you that we live in a small (15,000 population)town in central Illinois..this sort of thing dosen't happen here. Anyway....they were asking for volunteers to form search parties....so a friend of mine and myself went to help out. Long story short, one of the search groups that were on horseback riding along the river, found the little 7 year old...he was dead, tied to a tree. We don't know any more information other than that. Makes me sick to my stomach to think in this small town we have a sicko(s) running around. We should learn more by late this afternoon as the little boy was found at 11:30 am. Please keep our community in your prayers that we find whomever did this to this little boy. And keep the family in your prayers as I can only imagine what they are going through. Also keep your children close by...remember I live in a small town where something like this DOSEN"T happen. The little boy was playing in his front yard...his mom had yelled out and told him he had 15 more minutes to play and then it was time to come inside. They used a dog to track his sent and the dog only got to as far as the curb in from of his house....this is even more scarry!

Again please keep us in your prayers!

Oh, Laura that is just horrible. I came to tears reading it. Your community will defintly be in my prayers as well as the family of the little boy. Please keep us posted on more information if possible. If you don't mind me asking how far exactly was this from where you are?

It is in the town I live in--I think that is what you were asking. As far as how far is it from where I live, it is a small town so everything is close by.

I just don't even know what to say....that is beyond sad, I just want to grab my kids and hug them but the big ones are in school and Ryan is napping. Did this family live close to you? Keep your kids close and let us know when they catch the @#$@ that did this.

prayers to you and your community, most esp. to the child's family. i also live in a small community but have learned that evil strikes everywhere. i hope the perpetrator is found, not only so you can feel safe again, but so that you can start healing as a community.

prayers to you all --

Prayers and healing thoughts heading your way. Especially to the poor, sweet boy and his family. We live in a fairly large city, but it still jars me to hear of something like this. It just fills me with a multitude of emotions...I can't even imagine what you all must be feeling.

OMG! That is horrible. Sending my prayers your way. I just couldn't imagine....

My 7yo DS is teased because I don't let him roam the neighborhood the way other kids do. He gets upset w/ me because 4yo's get more independence than he does. But I'm just not willing to take that chance...ya know? There have been way too many incidents of kids being taken from their own front yards.

I'm with you Lisa.... my older kids are 10 & 11 and they cannot wander the neighborhood alone. They must tell us where they are at all times and who they are with. The 11 year old is a boy and does go places by himself (friends house) but my 10 year old is a girl and she won't go ANYWHERE (not even to the mailbox) without someone looking out the window at her (this is her rule) I guess all the talk of mostly girls getting taken etc. has her being very cautious. Sad that our kids have to live this way...As a child i had ALOT of freedom and walked miles with just a couple of kids but it is a different world now :(

Well...as I said we live in a small town, so everyone is close. However, they weren't in the same area, no, thank god!

They are scheduled to have a Press Conference any minute so will pass on the info as I find it!

That is so scarry. this is my first time posting message. This message really caught my heart. I have 2 girls ages 2 and 4 and I just moved to a new town and I worry so much about things like that. I watch my kids like a halk. I live in PA but am from MT originally. I have lived in small towns where you didn't have to worry about things like that. But out hear in the big cities it is different living. I am a christian lady and My prayers are with the family of the boy. God Bless Teresa
