Do you let your 2-3 yr old use scissors yet?

I was just wondering today if it is too early for the scissors. Nadia has some plastic ones that came in a playdoh set that she uses, but the only thing they can cut is playdoh. They are not sharp at all. I'm concerned that she doesn't have the motor skills quite yet and will end up cutting herself. I'm curious to hear what others have to say.

Yes, with both kids we've allowed scissor use starting at about 18 months (dependent on the kids dexterity). I think hand control is a great thing to learn early.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that is a bit nervous about it! I'm sure they'd do fine with safety scissors... I think we'll just give it a go and see it goes. I do remember my middle guy starting preschool and them asking how his scissor skills were (they stunk because we just didn't work on it often). I was a little embarrassed that I didn't introduce scissors to him at an earlier age! Time to pull them out for Landon!
