Songs for 3rd b-day video
3

Hi all. My DS is turning 3 this summer, and I'm starting to get things together for his birthday video. I do this for each of my kids every year - just a simple photo/video montage with music behind it. Anyway, I'm having a hard time thinking of songs to use this time. I usually use 2, although one time I did 3 because they were shorter. The ones I've used for him before include:

1st b-day: "If the Stars were Mine" (Melody Gardot) and "New Shoes" (Paolo Nutini)

2nd b-day: "Baby You're a Rich Man" (Beatles) and "The Bare Necessities" (Harry Connick, Jr.)

Any suggestions for songs that would work for a project like this? They could be any genre, fast or slow, sentimental or silly, etc. They just can't have any profanity or overt sexuality, of course. Any suggestions would be great! I feel totally blocked this time.

Hi Libby,

How fun!  I've always wanted to do this but never have.  The only suggestion I can think of off the top of my head is this song from the Dixie Chicks.  I always get a little teary eyed thinking of my boys when I hear it.

Hi Libby,

I was just wondering if you've found any songs you just love. Also, I was wondering what program you use to make the videos.  Mind sharing?

Hi. Thanks for your reply, and sorry I've been away so long.

I loved the Dixie Chicks song! Unfortunately, DH vetoed it because it will make him cry when we show it at the birthday party, and that would be embarassing. (Oh, my poor sensitive DH who is sensitive about being sensitive!) I think I've settled on "Let's Live It Up" by the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and "Have a Little Fun" by Glen Phillips.

We have an iMac, and I used to make the videos on the standard iMovie program. However, DH bought me Final Cut Pro a few months ago, so I'll use that. I know it pretty well by now (I make a lot of videos), and I think it'll go quicker than before. It's a great program, but iMovie was nice, too.
