Green Light for Clomid

Last month I got the green light from my doc to start clomid.  I'm nervous though and am putting it off.  I think for a couple reasons.  The first is that I just feel like I should be able to do this on my own!  I didn't need help with DS, so I don't want to need help for #2. The other is that I'm always nervous to take medication.  I am not a fan of side effects.  So not knowing how my body will react, scares me.  The last reason is...  what if it doesn't work?  I'm putting myself through this emotionally and financially - ins wont cover it, so I have to pay for the office visits and medication out of pocket (about $400-600 a month). Can a afford to do this more than once - financially I think yes, emotionally I'm not sure.

What has your exp with clomid been?  How did you get through getting AF after being on clomid?

Thanks,

Brooke

Hi Brooke!  I can't offer up any experiences myself, just wanted to wish you lots of luck on Clomid.   Ouch on the cost, that stinks that you have to pay out of pocket for it all.  What dosage are you starting on?

Hi Melissa :) I have to wait until AF arrives then call the doc to set up a cd3 scan to make sure there are no cysts. Then she prescribe it, so I'm not sure what dosage I'd be put on. Then she has me come in for a cd12 scan. The clomid won't cost much, but those office visits and scan are what hikes those costs up. AF suppose to be here tomorrow, just not sure if I want to wait one more month...

It's a double edged sword, isn't it? You want the monitoring but it's so expensive. I'm glad that she is taking good care of you, I always get a bit nervous when the doctor prescribes it without any follow up. It just stinks that it racks up so much in charges. Do you think she'll do the same monitoring if you have to do more than one cycle?

I took clomid 100mg for one cycle( CD 3-7), and I just got my bfp a week ago! I was lucky... I didnt have any side effects... Ive read online that if you take it at night time( same time every day) it lessens the severity of the side effects...

Ouch on the cost of it Brooke! Good luck if you decide to take it!
