I have posted on here a couple times and I know a couple people were interested in knowing how my first donor cycle went.

Well retrieval was this morning... it went great. They got 17 eggs, so eventhough I know I will never be told if a pregnancy occurs I am thrilled to know I gave them a lot of eggs to try with. My retrieval was planned for saturday but my body took a bit longer, however they said the eggs were very good quality and most large in size like they needed to be. They were going to inject the sperm directly into the egg so my eggs needed to be larger than a typical cycle I was told.

Aside from being emotional from hormones the cycle went great. I even felt great after the procedure, although 6hrs later I started to feel very sore. They said I could be sore for a couple days.

The coordinator is planning to give me info on a couple donor lists that I can get on, she was pleased with my cycle and knows I would like to do it again so she figured that would be my best shot. My husband had to get out of work for a couple days because my cycle ran past when we expected and we were needed in another state for my retrieval. Maybe next time I can find a closer location to help another mom to be while also making it a bit easier for my family.

Thank you for letting me post here, I know this is not so much an area where donors post, I have appreciated the welcome though.

Yay for you!!! You are so special to do this. You're going to give a lot of hope to ladies. BTW, I like your newest blinkie! :)

Thanks for noticing the blinkie. I asked someone on the siggy board to make one and she was so excited she made me 5 blinkies all slightly different but with the same general message.

I did find out that out of the 17 eggs they retrieved from me, 14 were mature and 11 were fertilized successfully. I will not be told anything else, but I am very happy knowing I have them 11 chances at having the baby they dream of.

I am 31 so I am on the edge of the age limit for when they will not use me as a donor

Hollyn,

Without women like you, my dreams of becoming a mother will never come to fruition. There is a special place in Heaven for people who give so freely of themselves in order to help total strangers. Someone already said it but I want to say it again.

God Bless You !!!!

Many thanks for your kindness !!!
