welcome! I'm a de mom, but Sheryl, the cl here, is a di mom. While we've had a run of de pgs recently, there are definitely a number of di moms who post here on and off.

I wish you the best! are you planning to do known or anonymous donation? tons of baby dust to you :)

Thanks for the response!

I believe we are going to do anonymous as my DH feels more comfortable with that. We are open to sharing the information with our child, but DH just feels more comfortable with anonymous donor - if I was in his position I think I would feel the same, but the best part is he is totally on board with using DI. He has known from a very young age that it would be difficult (if not impossible) for him to have children so that made our decision much easier when his SA's came back at 0.

Did you use a known donor or anonymous? How do you feel about your decision now, if you dont mind me asking. =)

Your children are beautiful, by the way!

Thank you!!

We went with an anonymous donor too. If I had a sister who could donate we might have gone that way, but I don't, and any friends I might have asked would be in their 40's like me, so no point in that. And the program we worked with (Shady Grove) only does anonymous if you're using their bank.

Since I really look at it as the donation of one cell, I don't feel like I would want to know the donor. If we had to use a surrogate or something, that would be a different issue, that's more of a relationship (I have 2 friends who carried surro pregnancies).

I think having the profile with health history, and a little info like general interests, is nice to have.

I am currently pg with de, and yes, we used an anonymous donor. I just want to wish you the best of luck as you embark on this new journey!

Welcome to our board. My DI son is now 11. We had male andfemale factor infertility so it took us a long time to finally conceive. Our donor was anonymous. I do plan on telling my son one of these days but not really sure how just yet. He knows how babies are traditionally conceived, but I haven't made the final step to tell him.

If you have any questions about DI just ask.

Oh my goodness our situations do sound scarily similar!! It is so nice to know that I/we are not alone.

We just had our first RE appt today and went over all of our options. After discussions b/w the Urologist for DH and the RE they think he should be a good candidate for having the "little guys" aspirated and then used for IVF, with the DS back up in case he has no good guys to use.

This procedure is more medically invasive than I preferred and when I discussed it with my RE he said that if the first IVF doesnt work, and if DH guys are no good that we will go the DS with IUI route unmedicated as well. DH said he feels like if we do this then he will feel like he gave it a shot, and is ok if we end up using DS with the IVF as well.

The only other reason why we are considering the IVF is because our insurance covers the procedure, AND the maximum embryo transfer he will do on someone under 25 is one, which I think is great.

Its amazing that you ended up with identical twin boys! How wonderful! Also it is so nice to hear that people actual comment on how they look like their dad.

I hope when you get a chance to check back on the boards you are able to read this! Thanks for posting!!!

Hello! I know this reply is a little slow in coming - but I am a graduate of this board and a very happy mommy of a DI baby! I absolutely remember feeling a little alone with the male infertility thing- so if you ever feel like talking, feel free to send me a private message.

We conceived our baby last June (just had our 1 yr anniversary!) via donor insemination and IUI. We were amazingly lucky and had success the very first time.

For us, any fears we had about "feeling different" about the baby because it wasn't biologically DH's went out the window the minute we saw her. She is amazing - and DH loves her soooooo much. No question that is his daughter 100%!

Good luck with your journey and hope to hear of a BFP soon!

Congratulations on your baby!!! I am so happy to hear that you had a healthy little girl and that any concerns you had about feelings during the pregnancy were unfounded and your DH loves her so much!!

Hearing these things makes the whole process feel a little easier to know that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel.

And if I ever do have any questions I will definitely PM you, thanks!

:smileyhappy:
