B12 Dots???

I recently went off my anti-depressant/anxiety meds. I was taking Lexapro. I am pretty stable, I just have a bit of a short temper. Also like most of you I have cut off the caffeine. I used to drink a whole pot of coffee a day by myself and then have 2-3 sodas throughout the day. I recently read that B12 Dots are good for relieving stress and they help with energy. Does anyone take these? Are they safe during PG?

No she doesn't know. I tapered myself down gradually and stopped taking them altogether. She's just my PCP, not a psych or anything. I've been dealing with depression and anxiety on and off since my mother died when I was 6 1/2 mo PG with DS in 2000. I didn't even try to get on meds until last year. And I am on a pretty low dose at that. So I don't think she will have a problem and I seem to be doing fine. I'm more stressed out about the 2 WW than anything.

Our PCP knows we want to get PG. But there isn't really anything she can do to help. I haven't decided on an OB yet. My hospital is an hour away, and they have a ton of OB/GYNs, so I'm waiting for the BFP before I decide on one.

I know I am going to get flamed for saying that. But in my situation, we are not using an RE to get PG. We aren't using fertility drugs or anything that needs to be monitored. We are doing everything at home. DH's insurance doesn't cover IF issues. We are using his brother as a donor for DI. The only way we can do this is with fresh sperm b/c there is no way to transport it home or freeze it without killing the sperm. So I have to do the IC right away. Last time we just went to BIL's house. Talk about awkward, but whatever.

Hello!

B 12-dots are probably OK as long as A) you don't over take them and B) balance your overall intake of B vitamins including getting enough Folic Acid. Overtaking B-12 can through off the way your body uses the B vitamins and taking too much of one may cause problems with the others.

For depression also look into mineral supplements and getting a good balance of vitamins, protein, healthy fats (fish oil or flax oil) and so forth in your diet. This, naturally, also can make you healthy for a pregnancy.

I won't lecture too much about seeing a doc, but you should get an overall check up before trying to get PG and should also discuss going off the meds with your doc...

I suggest Googling for info on transporting sperm. I know there are resources out there and good info. Also I suggest research the ways to optimize sperm counts. Sperm donors at sperm banks have to follow a really strict schedule to keep counts from dropping. You may also suggest that your BIL have a sperm count done (they can be done through the mail via a kit).

I am going to wait to talk with the doc about supplements before I actually take any of them. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm sure the fish oil would be good since I'm not a seafood eater. Does it make your belly/aftertaste fishy?

As for my Dr, she knows we are trying to get PG. I just saw her about a month ago. I'm due for my physical this month, but I want to wait until AF shows up or not, which should be within 3 days now. If I schedule now and AF shows up this weekend I won't be able to go anyhow. And if I am PG when I go, it's a good timing for both my physical and first PG test appt. She thinks I am healthy enough to have a baby. And I'm sure she is not going to mind I am off my med. I'm doing pretty well not taking it actually. I'm having a harder time w/o being able to take pain meds for my anterolisthesis. But since I have dealt with the pain in the past with nothing I can deal with it now too. It's definitely going to be a back labor when I do finally have a baby. It was with DS. I don't think OB isn't going to do me any good until I am actually PG. My PCP/Family Doc should be fine until then since I'm not using fertility meds or IUI. We want it to be as simple as possible.

As far as transporting the sperm, I don't think we are going to transport it. I think we just decided it easier to do at BIL's house or here at our house. We live about 40 minutes away from each other, so they would just die in the spec cup. This first time we tried at his house. This next month, if we need to, we will just do it where ever is the easiest. here or there. I don't want to risk losing any little guys. BIL is a healthy guy and we know he is fertile. He is fit and in shape and a paramedic. His GF is an EMT in schooling to become a CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife). So I think as far as doing it at home we are fine.
