Imput.... For those of you who do not know me, I will do a quick intro:)

HI Girls, (children mentioned and granddaughter)

Here is a short version of my story. 37, Married young, have two grown kids, dd 19, ds 18, granddaughter 7 months.... dh got a vascetomy, had two failed vacetomy reversals, had 1 failed IVF, fsh came in at a 11.3 so I got kicked out of shared risk program, only got 7 eggs 3 made it to 3dt, Re said all of poor quality, BFN! My RE only gave us 20% if i try again with my own eggs. Not thanks, not wasting anymore money, we have already lost over 30,000 maybe even more, Yes i was sad at first, but im not that hung up on my egg..... I just want a precious baby to love and raise and i will have dh genes.... I dont care about my genes, besides i have some pretty crappy genes to pass on mentally. Anyway... To me... it will BE MY BABY!!! In my belly, I WILL BE THE MOMMY!! LOL to love and raise and Im excited about going the donor egg route.

Questions:

1. had anyone got bfp with first ivf/de
2. i dont want to pick someone who looks like me, i just dont care about that, anyone else feel that way?
3, how long of a wait?

I am just so excited to have found this wonderful board! Im looking forward to sharing my journey with you all.

Thanks for listening, and i cant wait until June 22ng thats my follow up with my re since 3 months ago ivf failed. Im excited. Im going to IVF Florida, in margate florida, anyone here cycle there with de?? They say that there in virtually no waiting period they have so many de there.

oK... thanks again.. im rambling...

I also am excited about DE - we have much better chance of success going this route. And of course it will be your baby. It might not have your DNA but it will get everything else from you.

Wish I could answer some of your questions, but I haven't done a DE IVF Cycle quite yet...I will in about 4 weeks time.

Good luck, keep us posted. :)

OK...this is really strange! I swore I posted to this yesterday but I have no idea where it went!

Anyway....I am also doing a DE cycle after m/c four times and finally being diagnosed with a balanced translocation of my chromosomes. We are actually in the middle of our cycle and I should hear later today as to how our donor is doing. We are looking at sometime next week for an ER and ET.

As for your questions:

1. had anyone got bfp with first ivf/de
Keeping all crossables crossed that we will be able to answer yes to this question soon!

2. i dont want to pick someone who looks like me, i just dont care about that, anyone else feel that way?
The looks really didn't matter all that much to DH and I. We were more set on the fact that it was a proven donor. Fortunately we were luck enough to find a proven donor that sounds like she has a lot of the characteristics of me and/or DH.

3, how long of a wait?
We had our initial appointment in March.

I hope this help you! Please keep us posted!

Hi Cathe,
The national success rate for DE IVF is 50% - that is pretty darn good. So I'm betting there are lots of successes on the first try.

I personally did want to choose a donor that had some of my physical characteristics. We both have same coloring, similar features, although she is more petite than I am. She is also a proven donor. I would not have gone with an unproven donor, no matter how young she was.

I'm 45, recently married, and TTC my first child. My chances are about two percent using my own eggs... so, to me, using a donor egg was a no-brainer. My husband and I are using a donor who looks like me, and yes, that is kind of important, although family health history is more so. We are doing a mock cycle in about three weeks, and will probably do the transfer next month. Wish us luck!

Welcome to the DE board. I have not been here for some time, but thought I would check in and see if I could help anyone.

After 7 years of IVF treatment including 9 IUIs, 3 IVFs, and 1 FET - some with dh's sperm and some with donor sperm (dh also had a vasectomy) - we then moved on to DE. Not having any children of my own yet, it took me some time to move on to DE. After saving enough money to try DE, and waiting the 6 months it took for my clinic to get me a donor, I got pregnant with my first DE cycle. I know have a beautiful 6 month old daughter that I am absolutely in love with. There isn't anyway that I could possibly love her anymore if she was genetically mine. By the way, we used donor sperm this cycle too. From the first day I learned that I was pregnant, she was mine. I had an immediate connection. She didn't belong to anyone else the whole world. It was the BEST thing I ever did! Because we had given up and I was trying to learn to live childfree. But I was so unhappy when my RE talked to me about DE. I was 37 at the time. I found so many advantages over adoption and the odds were so good. It really was the best decision I have ever made in my life.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that you have the same luck on your first try also.
