(cross posted on IVF board)

Ahhh decisions, decisions - went to NEW RE today who was AWESOME - seemed so much more caring and invested in the process and the end result - a BABY.

He was really worried about why I've had such a high number of embryos make it to blast and still not implant - or even give me a chemical pregnancy.

Rachel,

I spoke to my RE again today and he explained again that ASRM does not let their members do it because it has created legal paternity issues should the couple decide to divorce in the future. If you want I can give you the detailed explanation but if your doc is willing to do it than I would go for it.

That's strange. In my state and i think most states, any child born to a married couple is automatically legally the child of the husband. And children born from donor sperm or donor egg are legally the children of the couple. So I really don't see what the problem would be w/ using either a mix of sperm (which I've heard used several times on these boards) or a combination of own-egg and donor-egg embryos.

Well my current RE is on-board w/FET of mine and donor and he is a pretty "by the book" RE (doesn't believe in Dr. Beer's immunological issues, etc.)

So I'm going to stay w/current RE and get started on selecting a donor! He has been 100% successful so far this year (well one didn't work who used a mid-30s sister's eggs and had a uterine issue) - so I feel that I'm in good hands. Yeah - NOW I'm excited again!!

It made no sense to me either but it's true, I had a 20 minute conversation with my RE over the phone.The clinic I go to is one of the largest. The way it was explained to me is that when a husband and wife sign a consent to use a donor;

Great Rachel!

Thats awesome!!! I wish my RE would do both embryos for us but he absolutely won't do it. You can see what I posted previously on this thred. Good Luck on finding a donor. I pray the rest of this process goes smoothly for you.

I still don't buy that rationale, given what I know about babies born to married couples.

I'll be really interested to hear what you find out from ASRM!!!!
