Financing and DE

Hi. I'm new to the DI/DE board, but not to ttc ivillage boards. My DH and I have been TTC #1 for over 6 years now, finally tried IVF in June and when it failed and no embies made it to freeze I was told it was my eggs causing our problems. Previously they had thought it was my uterus because of frequent spotting and a short LP. Now they're saying lesser quality eggs can cause those signs and symptoms too. Anyway, the jump to DE is an easy one for me to make. I love the idea of a baby still being a part of one of us (DH) and the fact that I could hopefully carry it is great. Not to mention how wonderful I think it is that there are women willing to do this for people they will never even meet!

You don't mention where you are, but if you're on the east coast I would suggest looking at Shady Grove www.shadygrovefertility.com. They have a shared risk program that several of us (me included) have used. For a flat fee of $29,000, you get up to SIX cycles of DE (shared cycles, you're one of 3 to share the eggs of one donor). If you don't bring home a baby, you get your money back. I got pg on the first cycle, but it was so good to know I had another chance if it wasn't successful. A former regular here needed 4 cycles, but didn't pay any more. It's a great program. I traveled about 8 hours to SG, but only had to go twice, once for intake and eval, and once for transfer. I got my us and bw locally.

We ended up taking out a home equity loan to finance the program.

Good luck and baby dust!!

Thanks for your response. I live in Wisconsin. After reading a bit about Shady Grove, I have been looking into it, but being we'd have to fly out it would be hard for DH to

Financing for a DE cycle is the hardest part of the whole thing.

Thanks so much, Chris, I'll look into the Attain site. I am ok with the driving, it's the working around both our work schedules that makes that so hard (having the time) which I know most everyone dealing with IF has to deal with. Advanced Fertility does have better pg rates than the clinic we currently go to. I'm glad things worked out for you with DE. I was in the June group on the IVF board and checked in on you guys in the May group too. :)

Pebbles:

At my Clinic (A top notch one...) the DE cycles cost about 22-25K. But..they also offer a SPILT DE cycle.... which costs 12,500. Plus 1/2 the cist of drugs. We JUST did this. We Shared a donor with another couple....and split the eggs. She produces 55 eggs...so we each ended up with 23 eggs.
