First time egg donor - questions for donors and moms :)

Hi everyone!

I have been in search of some sort of egg donor message board and this is as close as I got. I will be donating for the first time in 3 weeks! I just started my Lupron injections on Saturday and so far so good. I have a few questions that I hope some of you might be able to answer.

1. Has anyone noticed any side effects from the Lupron? The first night of the injection I was took it at 10:30pm and was up until 4:30am! The second night I woke up several times throughout the night (very unsual for me).

As a recipient of egg donation which finally gave me my dream,

Thank you for doing this, it is an amazing gift to give to someone!!!

We are still in our cycle, although my donor's part is done, we are waiting to see if I am pregnant.

Lupron does indeed have side effects. Crankiness, headaches and sore boobs are the ones me and my donor experienced (we both did Lupron).

I agree with everything Chris said. You are going to get really bloated and probably sore and crampy before retrieval, and you will probably have a few days of soreness after retrieval (We used a known donor so I just went through this with her). Eat as healthy as you can and stay away from caffeinne and alcohol. Try to stay relaxed and don't get stressed out. Treat yourself to a massage or something like that.

Good luck and I hope everything goes smoothly!!!

Thank you thank you thank you H.E.D.7!!!! I'm the mom of a 15 month old DE baby, and like the others here, I am so grateful for the gift from another egg donor like you :)

I didn't do any own-egg IVF cycles, so I never needed lupron, but most definitely hormones can give you those sorts of symptoms. It should get better as you go through the cycle and switch up the meds. I have never had a retrieval, but barring hyperstimulation, it shouldn't be too bad.

I think it would be really sweet of you to send a note to the recipient parents. I would have appreciated that. Do you know whether you'll be notified of successful cycles/births? If I were a donor, I'd like that info, but I don't know whether your clinic does that.

Again, thanks for your very generous donation of your precious eggs. I can tell you that our donor, even though we don't know who she is, has changed our lives for the better :)

Dear Crazy08,

Thank you for your response! :) I am so happy that egg donation has been a blessing to you and your family. The insomnia has subsided (thank goodness), and so far I have only had 1 mild headache and I have not been cranky. Thanks again for your advice and tips!

Thank you Cans25!

Good luck with your cycle!! How soon do you find out if you are pregnant?
I have read that alot of people on Lupron are cranky! Yikes! I haven't noticed that yet, but I am sure it will only be a matter of time. I have been VERY tired lately....I am not sure if that is from the Lupron. I have 1 more injections I will eventually need to be taking as well. I am on a prenatal vitamin and eat pretty healthy on a regular basis anyways. I drink occasionally, but I think I have only had 1 beer and 1 glass of wine in the last month or two. I also have had a couple cups of green tea in the morning which I believe has caffeine, so I will see if I can get some decaffinated tea. :) Thanks for the advice! And again, good luck with your cycle!! :) I am very excited for you!

Best wishes!

Hi Gespenst!

Congratulations on your 15mo old bundle of joy! I do not have children of my own yet (although we do want them and I am currently a nanny of 3 children), but I do enjoy that age! I appreciate your advice on the topic of sending a note to the parents. I really wanted to get a parent's view on it. :) I am not sure if I will be notified if the couple gets pregnant. There are some things I never thought to ask until I started going through the process - that being one of them!

Good news! I have another potential family that would like me to donate to them in November! Has anyone done cycles this close together?

I have done a cycle in August and then started another cycle in November.

I know our donor did two cycles pretty close together. She was absolutely wonderful. Just make sure you are donating through a very good fertility clinic. If there is any problem with donating two times so close together, they will tell you that. Also it depends, I would imagine, on how you respond to the first cycle.
