I don' know anything about these at home dopplers and am curious if anyone is currently using one or has used one?

I also rented one from rbaby beats. http://www.bellybeats.com/
I had 2 m/c so it was very reassuring to me to hear the HB.

I got one for about $50 on ebay when pg with DD1. I had a missed m/c prior to her and it was reassuring to listen to the hb when I was anxious. I think I got it around 12 weeks, and by then I could reliably get the hb. I had a bleeding scare around 15 weeks, and it was reassuring to hear the hb until I could get to the office.

Since I had the doppler, I used itearlier with #2, but that was frustrating b/c it took a while before I could find the hb (I missed that stage with #1 b/c I got it later). I had one reassurance visit to the OB for a HB check when I was feeling particularly worried!

Both times once I felt movements regularly, I didn't need the doppler nearly as much. Occasionally baby would have a day w/ less movement, so sometimes I used it then.
