horrifying fert report

It seems as though we are stuck under a cloud of bad luck. out of the 10 eggs, only 5 were mature and only 1 fertilized. the embryologists observations were the eggs were poor quality and the sperm was extremely poor quality.

i'm thinking we'll have to do anynomous donor eggs and donor sperm. has anyone ever done this before?

I'm so sorry you didn't get the results you had hoped for. This is such a frustrating process and why does it have to be so hard for some of us?? Please try to stay positive! I do not know of anyone with DE and DS but I'm sure they are out there and have great success stories to tell!

Please keep us posted ....good luck!

Kate, I already posted to you how sorry I am but just want to say it again. I'm so, so sorry...I am praying for a miracle.

I was wondering also if "embryo adoption" might be an option for you as well. I know it's a less expensive, though there are also added "issues" with it. Anyway, (((HUGS)))

Kate:

I'm terribly sorry, I am hoping for the best for you.

While we used my husband's sperm for our DE cycle, we have potential genetic issues that may lead us to DE/DS in the future. My DH has a nephew with a rare autosomal condition that has led to extreme developmental delay. Although he has one healthy child, testing can't detect it. We are not sure if the baby that we have now has it especially as it doing so poorly.

My RE wants to give it one more shot with DH's sperm because his count and fertilization are good but if this happens again, we will move on to DS exclusively. Like Christine, we are going to be using the California Cryobank (and have created an online account of potential donors) in case we need them.

I hope all of this is not necessary for you and you are in my thoughts.

Best wishes,
Gabrielle

After too many failed natural cycles to mention, discover that previously clear tubes have become blocked after surgery to remove fibroids (however, no more fibroids). Decent FSH for 40 year old

Hi Everyone, thanks for the messages. We got a call a while ago that we are going ahead (at this time) w/ transfer. tomorrow at 9:40. I have no clue how the lone ranger is doing today. We will find out tomorrow when we get there- I figure no need to stress and also knowing vs not knowing will not change anything at all.

Anyways, really praying so hard for a miracle but not getting my hopes up.
