How not to go crazy with anticipation till donor cycles in August????

Hello everyone,

I just found out that my chosen donor will cycle only in August, i.e. egg retreival will probably take place end of August. I am already on the pill, but she will only start her pills at her next period. I know it does not sound too long, but it sure seems like a long time for me. Any suggestions on how to occupy myself till end-August, so I don't go nuts!!??? It is slow/boring at work right now, and most people are traveling during the summer, and I am stuck here just waiting, waiting (I am single) ...welcome your suggestions, or let me know if anyone else is in this situation.....

thanks!

I wish I could help, but I am going nuts waiting for July 8th!! LOL. That is the day of our donor embryo FET. I try to read and crochet alot to take up my time. It must be harder being single though, because you cant drive your DH positively crazy on a daily basis talking about it (like I do, lol) On the other hand, at least you dont have to have someone else approve of whatever names you like. (THAT can be tedious!!) I wish you lots of luck with your upcoming cycle and hope the time flies for us both!!

I don't have any brilliant ideas, I'm horrible with waiting. We used frozen oocytes so we didn't have to synchronize with anyone, and it still felt like a long wait. Best wishes for your cycle!

Totally relate! We first made the decision in June of 2010 and met with the IVF doctor to start selecting our donor. After tons of expensive tests, our first two choice donors were rejected by the clinic. It was maddening. We finally settled on a third choice but the testing took forever. I can encourage you that once it starts, things happen crazy fast. I had so many questions, I think I called up there all the time! The month of the retrieval and transfer is a blur. I didn't want to get excited at all. I was so negative that it wouldn't work. I knew we only had one shot. JUST ONE. There was a journal in the room where we waited before/after the transfer procedure where prospective parents had written their thoughts....I started reading it and cried :( But you know what? Now I'm having twins. An ABSOLUTE miracle and worth every second of waiting. Good luck to you, my sister on this journey :)

hi Kimberly,

wow, quite a journey you guys are having too....hopefully things will go smooth for me; I have been on this journey now for quite a while....way too long....Good luck to both of us! First time around i tried FET in April, but it did not work, so I thought I will try a fresh cycle with hope of better success....and first I thought of doing a split clycle, but then opted to go with a sole cycle, to make sure there are enough embrios left...just in case. Work is very slow till end-August, so I just wish I would have been able to have the transfer done during the slow time so I can rest more....the madness at work will start again in September, so having the transfer end-August does not give me too much time to rest....

hi there,

thanks for your response. Wow, quite a journey....at least my donor is a proven donor, with several successful cycles behind her.....and all her test are done etc. I just need for her to start on BC pills after next period and wait for the stimulation etc....hope transfer will be done at least by mid/end -August so at least I can rest a bit during Labour Day weekend.

Why did you think you only had one shot? Didn't you have embrios that got frozen? Did they implant 2 or 3 embrios for you? That's another thing - at age 46..what if I end up with twins.....sounds cute, but is also a bit scary....especially for health reasons...

Thanks!
