Just picked donor and paid a lot of $$$

I have bad flashbacks of last year when I begged my husband to spend so much on the wedding video that ended up without sound, screwing us out of over a thousand bucks. In the fine print, it said that we still have to pay even if there's an equipment failure.

So we picked a donor, which we had to do online, which was harder because our computer broke so we were without for 3 weeks. Paid $13,000 yesterday which was my nest egg savings. Feeling pretty sure now that she won't produce any eggs or that the whole thing is a waste of money. They'll probably want to do the transfer at my first day back to work or something inconvenient too (I'm a teacher and go back in August). Thinking I will get a part time job in the evenings when this is over so I can distract myself and recoup the money. We couldn't even pay the extra insurance so that a repeat cycle is half off, because we knew we couldn't afford to do this again. Sorry....really negative today :(

((((hugs))))

I know it's hard to stop thinking about the potential negative outcomes, but the next several weeks will go easier on you if you try to think positive!!

Sending lots of "healthy egg vibes!" and "baby dust"!!!

Hi there. I have been there and I understand exactly how you are feeling. We have all been there unless we are among the lucky few who have insurance that pays. It is so unfair that not only do we have to put so much on the line physically and emotionally, but also financially. I will tell you though that I agonized over the spending the money because I too like you have preteen kids that will need the money for college in a few years, so I worked a second job for a year. I was determined to at least not owe any money if I did not work out. Once I paid the money and started in the process, I was so focused on the treatment steps that I really didn't think about the money much. You also start to see all the time, equipment, supplies, staff time and expertise involved and it makes you feel better about the large price tag.

What we got for the money spent: 22 eggs retrieved,

Thanks so so much for the happy vibes :) I know I need to get more positive. I guess it will be a rough ride for a few weeks/months till we know if it worked. I'm also freaked out by the meds they will give me - they actually put me in menopause to stop my cycle first to make it match hers? Menopause is scaring me...what if something happens that week and I just stay there...a car accident or death in the family or some other thing at work or whatever out of town....
