Need advice on donor cycling and potential egg donor fatigue issue

Hello everyone,
Need your feedback on following: I have narrowed down my egg donor search to two donors at my clinic here in the DC area ( I decided to do a full fresh cycle). Both donors are similar age and seem to produce about the same amount of eggs (16 on average) during each cycle. My question is the following: one of the ladies has done 2 cycles (resulting in 2 pregnancies), and the other has undergone 7 cycles already, the last one in March, before that in October 2010. Should I be concerned that the latter one might have donor fatigue and might not produce as many/ as good quality eggs during the July cylce with me? Do you think it would be safer to go with the first one who has only done 2 cycles? According to the nurse coordinator, I should not worry about this, but who knows....Let me know what you think, I am aiming for success this time and want to go with the best choice. Let me know if your egg donor might have also donated a few months before you cycled with her and what the results were.

Thanks!

That's a really interesting question, but unfortunately I don't have an answer for you.

I would have concerns though about a donor going through so many stimulation cycles. I don't think it's really known what long-term effects can result from multiple stim cycles, so I personally would feel more comfortable knowing I was responsible for someone undergoing their third cycle rather than their eighth cycle.

hi gespenst - thanks for your feedback...

I was told they can cycle a max of 9 times....this donor has 3 or 4 additional people on her waitlist by the way, but I am her # 1....

My Mom thinks it would be better to go with the one who had only 2 cylcyes so far (and she produced 16 eggs each and had 2/2 pregnancies....).

thanks!

Wow, that is an interesting question. The donor we chose was a first time donor. To be honest, I never thought about repeated cycles and the clinic we chose (also in the DC area) just stated 'repeat donor' not the total number of times.

All I can say is go with your 'gut' instinct on this one.

Did you choose between the two donors yet? Once you finally make the decision, a huge weight will be lifted and you can breath a huge sigh of relief:)

hi Peanut,

yes, thanks, I made my choice, after careful consideration. BUT now, what bothers me is that she will be only put on the pill after her next period (end June probably) and retreival will only take place end-August. What am I going to do for more than two months, just waiting waiting, it will drive me nuts! I will be here all summer, work is slow, people are traveling and I feel that I might go nuts waiitng that long...I am trying to come up with things to occupy myself till then. I wish I could take off and go away for a month, but I am saving my money and vacation for this "project". I am single, so that makes it even worse. .....thanks!
