Hi Sarah, welcome! I remember you from the IVF board, I think. I hope you get PG on your own, but if you decide to go forward with DE, it is a wonderful option. But like you said there are a lot of issues to consider and it's not for everyone. It's great that you're meeting with a counselor (which you would be required to do if you go forward). I also attended a professionally led support group through Resolve for women considering DE. Though i was pretty much set on doing it, the group helped me to work through some things and brought up some issues I haven't thought of. My best advice to you would be to start reading the following books, all of which are available on Amazon:

"Having Your Baby Through Egg Donation" (a must read)
"Mommies, Daddies, Donors, Surrogates"
"Experiences in Donor Conception"

Another great resource is PVED (Parents Via Egg Donation) They have a wonderful yahoo group which you can join- it's very safe and secure and run very well.

Also research your clinic and make sure they have good success rates.

We tried for almost 3 years before doing DE which included 4 IUI's, a surgery, and 2 IVF's in which my embryos didn't last past day 2. I never got pregnant, ever. I am now 15 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby and couldn't be happier we decided to do DE.

Good luck with your next steps!
