OK I know lots of you have done donor egg cycles. Most have done shared donor cycles other have done frozen donor cycles. Can you tell me where you cycled at, what type of cycle it was (shared, frozen etc) and a round about estimate of the costs? Did you do any guaranteed program?

Don't know if I will ever have the money for another cycle. Plus don't know if I can ever convince hubby on donor but want to have as much info as I can get.

Thanks!!

CHRIS

Chris,

Due to MFI and costs our next step was going to be donor embryo, but if that didn't work I might have considered donor egg in the Czech Republic...and indeed may consider that for baby #2 should we decide to have another and if it doesn't work with my eggs and our new drug regime of Met and HGH.

When I checked into donor egg in CR is was really reasonable if you did it direct through the clinic instead of paying a third party like IVF vacations, I think it was about 5K not including travel, and we could use miles. Hotels are pretty cheap.

Also, in regards to genetics, you may be interested in googling "epigenetics". It is now know that the genetics of your baby are actually strongly influenced during gestation- the mother's diet, biology, etc turns certain genes on or off. So even if the DNA does not originate with you, you have a big effect on the genetics. And as the PP mention, the baby is created from you...

I wish you success in convincing DH. You deserve to be a Mom, one way or another. Good luck!

Thanks Spencer. I will be doing lots of persuading to get DH to do donor. I just don't want to have any regrets in the future and feel that I really need to try donor eggs. I'll have to tell DH what your DH said about only 1 cell donor and 1 cell his and the rest is all you.

DH keeps saying if he has a child he wants it to be mine.

Any baby I nurture inside me for 9 months, go through labor with and deliver, then nurture outside of me for the next 18 years ... that's MY baby.

As my husband told me, he and the donor each contributed one cell, but the rest is *all me*.

And as an adopted child myself, I can assure you that family is much much more than just genetics.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I am checking out lots of things. I have been ready to do donor for over a year now. It is just trying to convince DH and now to find the money. DH keeps saying if he has a child he wants it to be mine. Don't know how I am gonna convince him otherwise. At this point I need a break so I am in no rush.

Good Luck to all of you.

Hi Chris. I was very interested in doing a shared risk cycle, but the clinic I worked with does not do them. I paid approximately 18k, plus medication costs. Even though

Hi:

I did the same program as Spencer and Izzy. I paid 29k and $495.09 for the original consult/ Mock cycle. I also did the frozen DE program when it was a trial program. Because we had s live birth, we actually got money back. I did not pay for meds.

Best wishes,
Gabrielle
