I don't have experience with donor embryos, but I think it's a great option.

Me: 36 DH: 35 TTC for 6 + years.  2007-2011: 3 fresh IVF and 2 FET with own eggs; all BFN.  2011-2012: Switched to DE; 3 chemical pg's.  2013: Moved to TX; starting DE cycle w/new RE.

We used donor embryos this summer, but sadly mc at 5 1/2 weeks. I have read of MANY successful pregnancies from donor embies. Some ppl tell their families and some dont. The embies we used were very like us as far as hair, eyes, etc, so we didn't HAVE to tell, but we did tell a very few ppl. I don't know what we would have done if we had have carried to term. We are older (43 and 45) and have older children by previous marriages. My DD is our biggest supporter. She is pregnant with her 3rd and she was almost as devastated as we were when we mc. We told my best friend and all 3 of my bio kids as they are 22,25, and 26. They were all very supportive. I think we would probably just tell them again, but not the general public. Our babies pediatrician would obviously have to know for medical reasons. If we get the guts to try again, we will probably keep it quiet for awhile, just because of the previous loss, but when we know it is safe, we will share with them again. I know they will all be supportive. I guess a lot of it depends on how supportive you feel your friends and family will be. We also chose to use donor embies because we can't afford IVF and also to use younger embies so there is less of a chance of birth defects. I just know that if we try again, the cost of the 2 donor embie cycles combined, won't add up to what an IVF cycle costs. If you are successful, when they put that baby in yours or your DH's arms, genetics won't matter and you will not feel any differently about that child, than your others. At least that is what I have read about all others, and what I believe myself.

Welcome!
We used donor egg to have our second dd. While I've been here, a mom had a donor emby baby and another (baby nurse) is pg w/ her second donor emby baby.
i think it's a great option! I'll see if i can alert one of the moms to come post here :)

I did talk to my husband about donor sperm and we both just feel more comfortable with the embryo adoption, we really are most likely going to only tell my sister and his sister they are the only ones that understand.

I have been on IVF boards for over 3 years and have seen several gals have successful embryo adoptions.

I know of 2 women who used to post on IV that used Demb. They both had successful twin pregnancies. It is a Great option and like a preivous poster said, once that baby is in your arms, you will love him/her just the same as you do your bio children.

Good luck to you!

As for telling family and friends, you have to do what is best for you and your family.
