Ready to pick our donor embryos

Hey ladies, I haven't been on the boards in quite a while but while getting ready to start our next donor embryo cycle I definitely need them! I joined this board in Sept 2008 while getting ready to do our first donor embryo cycle. Almost 3 years and 1 crazy toddler later we are ready for another one. We have been on the waiting list

Lauren, I remember you from the IVF board! Gavin is such a cutie pie. I think that you just have to trust your gut. Maybe some of the embies will have the majority of favorable traits you want? What a hard decision to have to make! I know choosing a donor was soooo stressful. Good luck and I hope the right ones come along quick!

I'm sure you will find embies that are just right for you:) Yes, it is stressful, but it all works out in the end when you have your baby in your arms.

Best Wishes,

Kristi

Thanks, girls! Last night we sat down and got serious about the characteristics that are really important to us. We narrowed it down to 2 good matches and are waiting for the clinic to send us the full profiles. If that all checks out then I think we've found our embryos! Yay! So hopefully next week we will get our calander. I really hope we don't have to wait long to get started!

Chris,

Our immediate families and my close friends know that we did donor embryo. Those were the people who have been with us since the beginning, so when I found out I had a translocation those were the people that I shared it with. The obvious question from everyone was, "so what's the next step?" so we were all kind of in it together. DH and I disagree on whether or not to tell our children that they were "donor embryos" so we haven't told anyone other than the people closest to us. At first it was hard when people would talk about how much he looked like us, but to be perfectly honest, he really does. He has my eyes and looks identical to a baby picture of my husband's cousin. Those truly were the "perfect embryos". Now I just smile when people mention it and I join in. Not being able to pick out mine and DH's features when our baby was born was something that I mourned when I found out that we had to do donor embryo. I think it was the most upsetting part, so when our baby came out and we were able to do that it was such an amazing thing for me. Bottom line, I think my son is an absolute miracle (and not in the "every baby's a miracle" kind of way). The way he came into our family is truly amazing and I want to shout it from the rooftops, but in reality I don't think it's everyone's business even if we agreed that we want to tell him in the future.

How have you been feeling? I see that you're almost out of the first trimester...yay!
