Results of first BETA!

OK so I'm 45 and have had 4 IUI and a depressing couple of years trying to get preg, but after my first IVF with a donor egg on Mar 11, 2 pos home preg tests, I did get a pos blood test today at the dr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The nurse says that I need another blood test next Fri and then an ultrasound on apr7. She said that they hope for normal beta numbers around 100 but mine is 568. HUH? WHA...? I asked about a due date and she said that just guessing with her wheel device without having the ultrasound yet, she's thinking Nov 29. I'm honestly just speechless. does this sound like twins to anyone else???

Congratulations! That is wonderful news. How many did you have put back? I want two put back. I hope to be where you are in two weeks! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

My beta at 11dp5dt (so 16dpo) was 567 and I have just one sticky bean. I had only one put back in so my risk of multiples was 3%.

There is such a wide range of beta's and the important thing is that is a Great number to start with.

G/L, and if twins is what you want, I hope you get your wish:)

Twins are a possibility, but not a certainty. There's a big overlap in levels. But we know you have at least one sticky bean in there, so CONGRATS!!!!!!

You can figure out edd with the calculator at www.tryingtoconceive.com/eddc.htm

Sorry, posted too early. Put retrieval in for ovulation day and it will calculate.

Ok, if retrieval day was 3/6, then your "LMP" equivalent is 2/20 and your edd is 11/27. If my ER calc is off, adjust accordingly.

I'm so excited for you! !

We had 26 eggs but only 8 fertilized. They put 2 in me (their policy) and we were only able to freeze one. I would actually be thrilled to death with twins :) Last night I was sure that my high beta number was indicative of twins and trying to get mentally prepared for that.....looking up vans on the internet and reading articles about risks of twin pregnancies....ha. Either way, just thrilled :) Interesting that some of you had singletons with high numbers too. Now one week until more information! SIGH. Always waiting!

Betas can vary wildly but a high number is awesome. My betas were stupid high and doubled quickly but we had a singleton. The second embie did attach and I had 2 sacs at the first u/s but only one baby. We think the really high numbers were because if the second, non-developing sac. It was a nerve-wracking 2 weeks from beta to u/s not knowing the headcount.

My advice is don't worry about twins yet. Keeping fingers crossed to doubling betas!

Congratulations, I'm so happy for you! Good luck on your next blood test, I can't wait to hear what they see on your u/s.
