Shared Donor Question

Hi gals, I'm still in researching mode here.

Thanks to all the gals who recommended SGrove. I have chatted in great length with them and are considering their program. I have narrowed it down to two clinics. (yes SG is one of them)

The other clinic I am considering has a very good success rate and has a shared donor program. what i am having problems with is the fact that they wait until two couples chose the same donor before a shared program is initiated. They do not facilitate this process by telling a candidate that another couple is using a certain donor and they could share that donor if they are interested. they just totally wait till two couples select the same donor. Their donor base has approx 75 donors in it so that could take a long time.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can you share your experience if you did?

Thanks
Lynda

Lynda:

Essentially SG operates the same way as the other clinic. You have to wait for other people to sign up and once the match is complete, they let you know. For example, if you are in the 1:3, you are not notified until all 3 donors have signed up for the match. It is important to note that because the donor pool at SG is larger, you probably wait less time. One my first 1:3 cycle, the match was complete in a month. Had

I re-read your msg, and SG does tell you how many people have signed up for the donor where the other clinic may not. For example, they will say "waiting on 3rd recipient" or 'Final count down" However, if you are the first person to sign up, they don't necessarily tell when other people sign up.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the response Gabrielle!!! Yes that is the difference. SG told me that they indicate on the donor profiles if a donor has been selected and is waiting on other recipients. The other clinic does NOT do that. You just wait in limbo till there's a match. The other clinic only does a 1:2 shared donor program. So I would be waiting on 1 other recipient. But i have no idea of how long that could take!!!! so i'm sitting in limbo trying to figure out what to do. thanks again for your response.

Hi Lynda,

Actually, I just chose my first 1:3 donor in January at SG and they told me when #2 signed up and then when the match was complete.
