Hi,

I have been seriously thinking about conceiving via artificial insemination, but am still trying to think through a couple issues.

Hello,

I have a 10 year old son who was conceived using DS.

Sometimes, and I'm as guilty as anyone of doing this, you can think things to death and never come up with a satisfactory answer. The truth of the matter is that we do not live in an ideal world...my parents divorced when I was very young...did that cause me some issues? Probably, but guess what? If it wasn't that it was going to be something else. I truly believe if we used only reason in deciding to have babies, no one ever would...if you think about it, theres a lot of downside. My husband and I are very unlikely ever able to adopt because of his age, so that leaves us with trying to get something to work with ivf. And if my eggs or his sperm don't work, our next step is probably looking at donor help. Is any of it ideal? No...but, that's life. I'd say life is something like 100% less than ideal. Lets say everything happens in an ideal manner...you meet the perfect man, you conceive a baby together and then he dies in a car accident. Not ideal for anyone, but you live your life the best you can! Even if everything starts out ideal, how often does it stay that way? I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make. :)
