Hi Ladies,

I've been holidng off on updating until I really knew what was going on....so here is the long story that I will try to make as short as possible.

As some of you may remember, I cycled w/ my sis as the donor in September. Turns out, even though she's only 27, her eggs are just as crappy as mine. Bummer. BFN. We picked out an anonymous donor and things were moving along quickly. she went in for her b/w and antral follie u/s and only had 11.5 antrals (how you can have 1/2 of an antral is beyond me). Well, because we are doing shared risk, their requirement is a minimum of 12 antrals. We were told by our (former and horrific) donor coordinator that a December cycle was out of the question. So not only were we not going to be able to cycle in December, we now potentially had to find a new donor and start ALL over.

This all happened on Friday, 10/30. On Monday, 11/2, i talked to my doc and she said she was goign to call shared risk to see if there is anything they could do. Well low and behold, i got a call later that day (from the donor coordinator I Like- i had the other one fired and told my doc i don't want to work w/ her!!) that shared risk accepted my donor!!! She went back in a few days later and her antrals were up at 14, all of her b/w came back fine, so we're moving forward!!

I started Lupron about a month ago (long story) and she starts on 11/21, which is this weekend- she starts stims on 11/28. I'm SO excited to FINALLY be moving forward!!!!!

This is great! I'm so glad to hear you are moving ahead! You will be close to my cycle! Our ER is tentatively scheduled for 11/29-12/3. So glad this worked out, sometimes you have to keep pushing on them. I agree with the post that said you have to your own advocate with these people a lot of the time because honestly they don't always take the time.

Best of luck to you!

Hi Gabrielle,

I don't go to SG. I am in Chicago and go to FCI. Sorry!! But I'm glad I spoke up and voiced my dislike for the other DC. I told my doc that i've been going there for over 1.5 years now and have done 5 cycles (this will be my 6th) and I've never had ANY problems w/ ANYONE on her staff aside from this nasty DC. I just wanted to make sure she knew I wasn't a 'complainer' and that i didn't just complain about anyone/everyone at her clinic.

Good news!

BTW, what are the initials of the donor coordinator you didn't like? I've had a decent experience thus far @ SG. I've learned that you really have to be your own advocate though. I do think they are a little sloppy for those of us with alternative issues beyond POF. I know I was given double the dose of lovenox because my RE never checked with a hematologist and just suggested the max dose. I'm not sure if it caused my m/c or not. That left a bad taste in my mouth. We may have to use DS if we have another m/c and we've really had to push the issue. They also really try to push a 1 embryo transfer for everyone which I found slightly distatseful. I mean if I've told you all along I want to transfer two embryos, then why would you push me for one?

My nurse has been really good for the most part but I had a bad experience with the nurse who covered for her. It upset me enough that my military nurse here called and complained and then she had a much different attitude. I was lucky to get a December cycle because my nurse reserved one for me in advance. The only reason I was able to get one is we are doing the freebie with the frozen donor eggs and they already have the eggs. I was told no go for a fresh donor and that was in October!

Best wishes to you on everything,

Gabrielle
