I posted two weeks ago but then my computer blew up :( Here's my update: We had our first invitro appt and have decided to go with a donor egg situation. We're waiting for the clinic to check on our insurance to see what they'll pay. We're supposed to "look for?" our donor now online, given a couple of places to try. Will let you know as things progress :) Thank goodness I found you all here :) I'm scared about the money part now!

YAY, Congratulations on taking this big step! Ah yes, the money...it sucks, there's no two ways about it. But what better way to spend it...will be totally worth it in the end. Best of luck to you!

I'm near St Louis MO. Scary that some insurance has age cutoffs. I hope that my dr checked that all out thoroughly before giving me the good news about coverage!

Good idea about the credit union. I'm excited also that my insurance will pay for four rounds of invitro EVEN with a donor! WOW! I guess I still have to foot the bill for testing that isn't covered and the compensation to the donor. I am anxious to get my computer working again so I don't have to search donors on a public computer (where I have been for a couple of weeks ugh). I'm grateful that the dr offered to let us try with my egg but was realistic about the odds. I don't want to waste time if that isn't a good bet for us. I'm a teacher with the summer off and I'm 44 already, so let's do it! :) Our clinic recommended other clinics to locate the donor as they have so few. I guess part of the donor's travel might be our bill too. Will keep everyone posted :)

Yay for moving on to the next step! How exciting!

So do you have to go through a donor egg agency to find a donor, or does your clinic recruit their own donors?
