Med protocols vary from clinic to clinic and even from doctor to doctor. I am about the start our second cycle for donor embryos. Our last one ended in September with a chemical pregnancy, but it is because of an immune issue that I have, and nothing to do with the embies. I actually went through 2 cycles last time before we had a transfer. The first one was cancelled because my lining was not triple striped. Our clinic will NOT go ahead with the transfer unless your lining is over 8(I think, maybe 10) and HAS to be triple striped(supposedly optimal). Our first cycle we did BCP, estrace and would have gone on to PIO if we were doing a transfer the first time. The second time, we did a higher dose of Estrace, PIO, and then they give you a few days of doxycycline and medrol for the days before and after transfer. That worked for us, we got our BFP, and then my immune system shut it down. This time, our protocol is one that is aimed at shutting my immune system down so that we do not suffer another m/c. I am starting adderall(experimental for unexplained m/c) and steroids very soon. I will have b/w and u/s shortly after AF shows and then take estrace after that. I believe estrace is for 14 days, and then we add PIO, progesterone suppositories and the antibiotic and medrol. I will be starting lovenox or heparin the day after transfer to keep my blood from clotting and causing a m/c. I will also be on baby aspirin, extra folic acid and and extra B6. Those are to combat the few things I have not been tested for (such as natural killer cells) as we are trying to cover all our bases. We also will not be doing BCP this time just in case that was an issue during our first try. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I will answer as best I can. BTW, I am 44 and DH is 45. I have no tubes left and DH had a vas in 96. The age and other "issues" are why we chose donor embryos. Oh, and of course the difference in cost!!
