What can I expect from my transfer day experience?

Can I do this with missing just a half day (morning) of work or will they want me to stay on my back all day? or for how many days? I noticed someone on here had some discomfort. May I also say THANK GOD FOR THIS MESSAGE BOARD. You are all so helpful. I cherish your comments, even though I can't always figure out how to make this system let me respond :)

I was advised to do modified bed rest (i.e. rest of the day on sofa or bed, up to bathroom, no other real activity) until dinner time, then I could go out (we were out of town, so we had to go or order in) as long as I didn't overdo it.

If it were me, I wouldn't want to go to work that day.

It wasn't at all painful for me, not even crampy.

The actually transfer was not painful at all. However, I did have some cramping that evening. I went home and stayed in bed the rest of the day. Only got up to use the restroom. The following day, I got up and just lounged on the couch, made lunch, but still took it easy. Each day, I increased my activity so by the 3rd day I was pretty much back to normal stuff. I didn't do any heavy lifting, though. My discharge instructions said no 'bedding for 4 days' so I guess after that even the doc expects things to be back to normal - lol.

My experience with this is from using my own eggs -- this will be my first donor experience -- but I expect the transfer protocol to be much the same.

If it works, you would think that the embryos would implant pretty quickly, right? So after a day or so, they have either stuck or been discharged, right? Thanks for everyone's comments :)

I totally believe that my bed rest worked and I was really careful with it. I did get up to use the bathroom, answer the door, etc... But the rest of the time I laid around and watched tv. I did have a lot of cramping that day but the actual procedure didn't hurt EXCEPT for drinking all that water and not being allowed to pee! The day after transfer we drove from MD to NC and I pretty much resumed regular activities with moderation ( no running or heavy lifting). I had a bfp on a FRER at 9dp3dt.
Good luck and baby dust to you!

from what i have read, embryos implant anywhere from day 6 to day 8.

I was advised to 24 hrs of modified bed rest after et. DH kept me honest about staying in bed for the full 24 except for bathroom trips. It was more for relaxation than anything else. I wasn't uncomfortable, just tired.
