Charting Confusion

I have been charting for 3 months I think. I have been on Metformin for 7 months for PCOS. My cycles are still weird but they are more regular and I have been getting them every month rather than every other month for a month and so on before Met. Anyways, a friend suggested I start charting so I have been. I wake up at 5:30 every morning to temp and see hubby off to work. However, I have read and done the little test your charting knowledge thing that fertilityfriend offers and I stink at it. My charts are like looking at a foreign language and I question if it is correct in predicting my ovulation. I wonder this because it says I have not ovulated yet but since Sunday (14th) I have had cramps, spotting, my nipples and now areolas are sore and last night my back started to hurt. I was also extremely and easily agitated yesterday. I was also constipated yesterday but if anyone is on met they know the opposite to be true while taking them. Today makes Day 5 of the sore nipples/areolas, the sore back and the cramping. Am I nuts? I don't normally have this much issue or symptoms with ovulation but they are random so I am confused.

Heres my chart:

I'm sorry, but the link you posted didn't take me to your chart.

OK. I will try this again but it looks the same as the first time I posted it.

I just went ahead and did a print screen and posted it to an image sharing site so the link works now. I will repost it in this one too though. My October chart is in there too. I would post the September chart but I charted charting mid cycle so not sure if that would be of any use.

Well, that worked! I didn't think of Photobucketing it, LOL.

I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing O on your chart either. You said you're teming at 5:30, so your time is consistent. Are you using a BBT thermometer? If not, you should switch to one at the beginning of your next cycle. A BBT is more sensitive to subtle temp changes than a regular fever thermometer. (If you're using a BBT, disregard the above blah blah blah ;-)

In order to confirm O, you'd need to see a sustained temp rise that was at least .2 degree higher than the 6 temps prior to O...and that's just not present on your chart, unfortunately. If you had a clear ovulation, your coverline would need to be at 97.8, and that would put only 2 temps higher than the coverline :-(

You could have tender breasts simply because AF is coming...you'll still get AF even without ovulating, just that techically it's "breakthrough" bleeding, not cycle-driven.

You're new to charting and this is your first complete cycle, so try not to hit the panic button. Charting is good because it gives a picture of the hidden things in your cycle and helps you know what direction you need to be moving. I'm glad your friend suggested it :-) If you're indeed not ovulating, and you have 2-3 cycles of charts showing that, your doctor would probably fast-track you to some help, instead of the usual "try for a year and if you're not pg come back and see me" that you might otherwise hear.

I hope you'll be able to get things sorted out and working the way they're supposed to work, and that you'll soon be pg, as well.

If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You're always welcome to hang out here!

Yes I do use a BBT thermometer. The only thing that ever really changes is having the heat on or wearing jammie bottoms rather than shorts to bed. Outside of that, things are pretty regular like that. I actually do have a full month for October also but it is the same way as this chart but at the end of the cycle it pointed to day 8 as the ovulation day for October's cycle. Putting me on Metformin was part of her reasoning and hopes to start the ovulation back up among other things. I have had positive saliva tests for ovulation too. So, I don't know. I will probably be going back to see her by the end of the month anyways. My hubby seems to be EXTREMELY concerned about the soreness of my breasts since it is unusual for me especially this long and this sore. So we will see.

Let us know what your doctor says when you see her again. Does she value your charts if/when you bring them in? Hopefully so!

Nope...I have had a few different docs and even my gyno that I have brought charts and calenders to appts and NONE of them even glance at any of it. Just a waste of paper and ink in this town. It is day 9 of the sore nipples and areolas. Yesterday they were only slightly tender and now today they are really tender...areola and all. Still cramping and had some spotting when I use the ladies room but not in my undies. So maybe AF is coming...I don't know. This is sooooo not normal for me even after the 18 years I have been having AF.

It looks like AF has arrived? I'm sorry...nasty old hag coming in to ruin Thanksgiving. I wish your cycles weren't so confusing...hopefully the next one will be more normal.

Yes AF came and is still here. Exactly what I am saying...my cycles are so confusing. One month is it a normal perfect AF and then I have another one 2 weeks after I stop and it is 10 days long. Right now this one is on day 9 of AF. ARGH! It is maddening. I have been on Met since April and up until last month it wasn't doing much good. Now that it is finally starting to regulate me a bit...it is still making me irregular. It doesn't even make sense. I looked at Novembers chart and it now says that I ovulated day 8 which was the day I thought I had because of all the symptoms I had started having. We BD'd that day, the day before and the day before that. I think I may have to be started on clomid to get anywhere. I try so hard to let God handle it and give Him His timing but I can't help but be terrified that maybe it simply isn't in HIs Will for us to have a family. I have the faith that I know He can do it but I wonder if He actually will. My plans are rarely His plans for me.
