Help please!

Hey ladies! I'm hoping you can help me out with some questions/concerns I have about my cycles. I gave birth to my beautiful son 16 months ago. I went off NuvaRing four months ago in order to get ready to TTC. With DS we just sort of did the "rabbit metheod" with no planning or info about my cycle and conceived the second month after I went of BC. This time I would like to attempt to use the Shettles Method in hopes of having a little girl. So I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility and the Shettles book, and have been charting for the past four months. I'm doing it on paper so can't really show you my exact charts. But I can't tell what the heck is going on with my cycles. Some info....

-I get brown spotting for about 4-5 days and then only a couple of days of period.

-my temps don't show any pattern. They range from about 97.8-98.2 or so, and are up and down constantly, no clear peaks or anything.

-I can't discern any difference in my CM. Just if it's there or not, not any clear difference in consistency.

-my cycles have been from 24-29 days.

-my last cycle I did ovulation tests for 10 days and never got a positive.

I'm worried that worst case I'm not ovulating, or best case my cycles are all over the place and I'm going to have a hard time predicting when I'm going to ovulate. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you both so much for your thoughts!

Laura- Nuvaring is the same as BCP but a ring that's inserted vaginally. So maybe the hormones are still messing with my cycle! Your guesses about my cm were right on- mostly wet/sticky, but never eggwhite.

Sue- I have been taking my temp with a regular digital thermometer. I thought I read that was okay? I started out with a basal thermometer, but the one I had wasn't very good and took forever to take a reading. I take my temp at the same time, within a half hour or so, when my son wakes up. So with my old thermometer taking several minutes while my son is screaming was not going so well!

I will try to get my charts up on one of those websites so you can take a look. Thanks for your help!

A BBT thermometer is best because it's more sensitive.

I use the BD brand. . . and we're not in the dark ages anymore, are we? ;o) Honestly, most of the charters I know use the BD brand. It has a nice backlight and memory feature which are both great.
