I haven't been charting too long myself but I went off the nuvaring about 3 months ago. DH and I are WTC our first but I wanted to become familiar with my body and get on pre-natal vitamins before we started.
I don't know that you necessarily have to have a dip to indicate ovulating, I know that I don't. It's the temp spike afterward that is the main clue. When you have 3 days of temps that are above your coverline then you have most likely ovulated, for example if you have low temps but then on CD15 16 and 17 you are above your coverline then you ovulated on CD14.
It will probably be a few cycles til you really get the hang of it. I know I am still asking questions of ladies that have been doing this alot longer. A good website for questions is www.tcoyf.com it's based off the book Take charge of your fertility.
Lot's of baby dust to you and don't get discouraged if it doesn't happen right away...
Good luck to you too!
