How long a luteal cycle is necessary for preganancy? I think I've read references to at least 10 days or at least 12 days ... can't recall. According to fertility friend, my last cycle it was 11 days, so I'm wondering if it will be a potential problem. Not trying just yet, but trying to stay on top of things!

From what I've read, the LP needs to be at least 10 days in order for successful implantation to occur. Average LP length is 12-16 days. Sue

I agree with Sue, LP needs to be at least 10 days for implantation, and average is 12-16 days. Mine was always 12 days (I haven't started cycling since I gave birth to my daughters so not sure if it will be the same or not). I wouldn't worry about 11 days unless you also notice that you have a lot of spotting toward the end of your luteal phase.

Thank you for the reassurance. When I charted previously (when ttc my daughter) it seemed that the luteal phase was more like 15 - 16 days, so I'm kind of surprised that it's shorter now. I guess after pregnancy things can change.
