When should I start charting?

My husband and I are contemplating trying for a second child.  I haven't charted since I got pregnant with my first and I'm still on birth control.  Should I start charting before I stop, wait until I go off or sometime after that?  I'm not even sure that I can chart right after stopping birth control, will it all be screwy?

I don't know how long it will take you to come off the b/c.  Really, it varies from woman to woman.  Charting will definitely help you know when you're getting back to normal Smile

Thanks for feedback, you made some good points. I think I'll wait until the month we go off of bc, that will get me into the habit of remembering to temp every day. Do you know how long it will get my fertility back? I'm on Nuvaring.

It's very likely that you'll have some wonky cycles when you stop taking b/c.  You can start charting any time, but as long as you're still on b/c the only benefit would be establishing the habit.  Once you stop b/c, charting would be useful in helping you either know when you're likely to be fertile, or when you'd want to be careful (if you had a window of time in which you weren't on b/c but also didn't want to conceive).  And, if you're charting, you'll know when your cycles have gotten back to normal.
