So I have not really talked about it much, because the less I think about it the better. I had a first trimester screening done at about 12weeks, I will be 16 weeks on Friday. i just wanted it done for the ultrasound pictures. The ultrasound found that Nicholas had a very large bladder. But my OBGYN did not seem to concerned. She said that it is something that may clear up on its own. Then the blood test came back saying that I have an increased rick of Down syndrome. It's scary because I am only 25, will be 26 in a couple of days, with no history of DS in either side. So my OBGYN sent me to a Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor. The appointment went okay, it looked like the bladder went down. But there is a little fluid near Nicholas's kidneys. The doctor said it could be a weak indicator of DS. I need to go back in 4 weeks to see if the bladder went down. There is a little blockage that may clear itself.
I told the doctor we have a appointment on Monday Aug 16 with a Genetic Counselor. To talk about the results, and have a possible amniocentesis. I do not think that I am will to risk the babies lives for a simple test, but it does not hurt to talk to the doctor about it. DH is not happy, but I have to act like everything is okay because the babies do not need any stress, they are working hard enough.
Sorry for the long post, but thanks for listening.
