NT Scan today - Nervous

Mon, 08-23-2010 - 11:19am

So ladies, I have my NT scan today and I'm really nervous. My bleeding/spotting had stopped for about a week and then yesterday morning it was back - and the bleeding a little heavier than last time. It's slowed down to spotting again, but I'm still feeling anxious about it. I know in my logical mind that this can be normal~ but I still worry so much. Please send out lots of positive vibes that all is well at the NT scan this afternoon. Thank you!!

Good luck today Leslie! Sorry the spotting is back, I know it makes you so nervous, I was a spotter in the beginning of this pregnancy too. I think some of us just are spotters unfortunately. FX and prayers that all is well and you have a fantastic scan today!!

Thanks for the positive wishes ladies - just a couple hours to go now. I'm feeling optimistic.

Kelly, thanks for sharing that you also had spotting during your pregnancy. It always makes me feel better to hear of successful, healthy pregnancies that had bleeding/spotting. Just helps ease the mind a little.

Hope I get some pictures today - I'll try to post them.

NT Scan went great! We got negative results on all our first trimester screenings and the baby was looking healthy and snug in there! :-)

They've determined that the spotting is because my placenta is low and over my cervix. If this were to continue into the later stages of pregnancy, they would diagnose it as Placenta Previa. Doctor said not too worry too much now - as about 90% of the time it will naturally move out of the way and not be a problem. I just have to limit my activity for at least the next 6 weeks until they can check it again. I'm not looking forward to that - as I am used to being very active, but at least I know it isn't anything threatening the baby. That is the best news!!!

Thanks for all the positive thoughts.

Leslie,

I am so glad that everything looked great with your LO.

I hope your placenta moves out of the way soon & doesn't cause any more bleeding.

Great news Leslie! Low lying placenta was what caused the last bit of spotting I had around 12 weeks too! They told me the same thing about it most likely moving up as the uterus expands. I'm so glad you know what's causing it and that it won't cause any problems! I didn't have any spotting episodes after that so hopefully you've seen the last of it too. So happy you had a good scan!
