Am I Expecting too much?

I mean really, is it too much to ask to be able to call my RE and actually be able to schedule an appt?

During my last IUI I asked the RE what the next step was if I got a BFN.  He told me that he thought I should have my fibroids removed.  Great, if that is what I need to do, I figured, I'll do it.

I got my BFN last night.  I started calling this morning at 8:30 this morning to schedule the procedure.  Three hours later the nurse called to tell me the RE would send me an email.  The email from my RE expressed that he wanted me to schedule a consultation to discuss my options which are : 1) Surgery to remove my fibroids and 2) In Vitro.

WHAT?!?!?!!?!?

First of all I live 3 hours away from his office so there is no way that I am going to drive 3 hours for him to explain IVF to me.  We haven't even tried IUI with injectables yet!!!!  And since we have unexplained IF, and the fibroids "shouldn't" be causing our IF, why jump to IVF?

So I replied (politely) that I would not be driving 3 hours for a consultation.  I also explained that IVF is not an option for me at this time.  He replied that this was reasonable and wrote for the nurse to schedule me for surgery...3 hours later no reply from his nurse!  I tried to call an hour and a half ago but got the nurse's voicemail.  I am FURIOUS right now that it takes a full day just to book a procedure with them.

Maybe it's the homones and the let down of this whole IF situation, and I'm really trying HARD not to lose my temper with them, but they are really trying my patience!

I'm sorry Kathy, how frustrating! It always takes longer to schedule surgeries (trust me I know, I bugged the crap out of the poor surgery schedulers at my last two RE's offices:). It's like do they understand that you need to plan the rest of your life and this is kind of BIG!

I hate that you are having to have the fibroids removed. Do they do that laproscopic? Big hugs on the bfn and all of this!

Ugh, Kathy, I hear you.

After struggling with infertility, we welcomed our son Noah on March 18, 2010! Formerly a teacher, I am now a breastfeeding, babywearing, stay at home Mom, and I couldn't love it any more!

Kathy,
What a frustrating day for you! I'm so sorry that your clinic doesn't realize how stressful this whole process is for you... As if you don't have enough to worry about w/o having to beg someone to call you back to make an appt! Good luck... I hope you're able to get your appt scheduled and that your surgery goes well. KUP.
