East Coasters!

Stay safe this weekend!! Hopefully Hurricane Irene goes further out to sea, but the latest models show it coming right up the eastern seaboard. I'm about an hour from the beaches here in DE, so we're going to go out and get some food and bottled water just in case we're stuck in the house for a few days. Hopefully it won't be too bad, but we're preparing for it just in case.

Take care everyone!!

We made it through ok...hope you did too!

Our biggest fear was our power going out because of the sump pump. We have a battery back up one too, but it's only good for 24 hours. I'm happy to report that even though we had a few flickers, our power stayed on the whole time. We're really shocked because the wind and rain was pretty powerful. We had to go down in the basement a couple of times due to tornado warnings, but luckily they skipped us too. As far as clean up goes, we only had some downed branches and a little water in our basement which was nothing our wet/dry vac couldn't handle.

Hope you are hanging in there, Jemma! I hear that it is pretty bad where you are. I know that it is bad here, and it looks worse near you! Hope you are staying safe!!!!

Same here! I live about a mile from DE Rt. 1 and the traffic is crazy with people trying to get away from the beaches. We also went out to grab some non-perishables and the lines were crazy. We actually got the last case of bottled water on the shelf so we were lucky.
Hopefully it won't be too bad for either of us. Take care!!!

Jemma,

I hope that things do not get too bad in your area. Here in the Philadelphia area, we are scrambling around like mad to get ready. I just went to the grocery store to pick up some things for next week (it's back to work time, so I have to start packing my lunches again!!!), and the place was mobbed! No water, bread, or milk to be found! I, too, hope that things do not get too bad in our area, but we are definitely trying to be prepared as well!

Stay safe and dry!

Kelly :)
