So today I found out insurance made mistakes in processing my fertility claims. A huge $8000 dollar mistake. I was only going to have to pay 1000 for my FET and now it will be over 3000. I am just plain sick today. I have done everything I am suppose to do and I get the short end of the stick. So I go from having 10000 left in my coverage to having 2000. It would have been different if I knew I was going to have to pay that for my cycle awhile ago but I have to pay for it Monday. Thank god I have the money in the bank to pay for it but my savings is drying up fast with all of this. If the FET does not work next round will be 5000 I have to pay up front for. I will have to get a second job just to save up the money faster. I am so stressed and sick. The sad thing is I work for the insurance company so I just cannot call and yell and scream at them like I want to. This is so frustrating. Why oh Why does this have to be so complicated. I have thought about if this does not work of looking into another clinic that does not cost so much and transferring my eggs there for my FETs. I am not even sure if I can transfer my eggs to another clinic. Sorry I am just rambling on. I am beside myself today and stressing over all this.

I'm so sorry, and I feel your pain. I found out that my "pre-approved" surgery (which not only treats IF but helped with the pelvic pain I got around O and during BD and was coded as such) was rejected by my insurance company. Suddenly, an out patient procedure that lasted all of 2 hours (5 hours total in the hospital) comes to $19,000!!!! I about had a heart attack. My dr is pissed though- he believes I needed the surgery regardless of if I wanted to have kids and he is doing an appeal. I'm nervously waiting to here what happens next. And I live in, and WORK FOR, a state with mandated IF coverage! But, my employers worked out a deal to be a "self insured" group so they wouldn't have to follow the mandate.
I don't believe that every last drop of IF treatment should be covered- there should be caps on it, but the way we are treated by our insurance and employers is abhorrent. I am so sorry you are dealing with this stress. As if trying to get pg w/IF wasn't hard enough...

Oh Katrina I am so sorry! I hate that insurance rules so much of our lives. I just got a bill from my OB, my last appointment (which lasted 10 minutes and all that happened was my doctor told me she is releasing me to the RE) is costing me $60. I know it does not compare at all to your expense but I just think it is stupid that we get charged so much. As if these problems are not frustrating enough.

Thanks everyone for all your support. I am still not happy but the RE office did not pull another Insurance qoute so looks like I will just get a bill and I will pay it that way. Payments always seem easier to handle vs shelling out the big chunk. Another issue I am having with this clinic is with the other RE. They know I prefer not to see her but it is hard to completely avoid when the RE rotate schedules. When I had my overstim I was confused why I was being charged 1 fee from 1 RE and charged a different amount with the other. Well I got my answer today. The other RE (one I do not prefer) felt my visit from OHSS were longer than 10 min so she felt charging me 180 over 73 was acceptable. The other RE kept me at the same charge. How can a clinic run like this? I would think it should all be uniform. ugh.. this is why if the FET does not work I am looking at changing to anther RE in Minneapolis and having my frozen eggs transfered out of my current clinic. They are beginning to work my last nerve at it will not be long before it snaps.

Thanks for listen to my vent. I am sure glad I can
