IUI #5 = BFN

So, IUI #5 was a bust. I wasn't so shocked when AF showed up today though. I POAS on Sunday just to get it out of my system. I knew it wouldn't be positive. But, I had a baby shower to go to that day, so I figured since I'd already be depressed I might as well get my money's worth. To be honest, I just feel sort of numb at this point. I'm not at all surprised I'm not pregnant and I really am not sure if it will ever happen.

The baby shower on Sunday was fun though. My friend brought her newborn baby and there were five extremely pregnant women there-- not including the one who the shower was for! I really couldn't believe it! I thought it was bad enough when we went back to work on Friday (meetings only, no students) that two teachers brought their babies that were born this spring. Really? Can't I escape this somewhere?!?!

Anyway, I was planning on doing injectables with this cycle, but I'm not going to be able to. My clinic requires that I attend a one hour class on how to mix and administer the injection. This class is given once or twice a week but only at 9am and 2pm. So, basically I would have to take a half day off of work for someone to teach me something that would basically take five minutes for a nurse to explain one on one. Grrrr... I can't miss school this early in the year. I'm already going to have to take time off for the next useless IUI, so I don't want to take time off for something unless it is absolutely necessary.

On a more positive note, my first day of school was today and I seem to have a great group of 8th graders... Hopefully they'll stay that way!

I'm sorry Stephany:(

I don't think I could have handled that shower, you're better than me. I would've crumbled especially on a bfn day. How many IUI's is your RE recommending to do?

Kelly

I'm 38, DH is 42 and we are TTC #1. We've had 3 unexplained miscarriages and a bout with Asherman's Syndrome but we're determined.

Big (((HUGS))) to you Stephany.

That stinks that you aren't going to be able to do injectables because of not going to that class.

Kudos to you for going to that shower. I don't know if I could have handled it on a day that I got a BFN.

Stephany,
I'm so sorry your IUI didn't work, and that feels horrific having to go to that baby shower and deal with all those pregnant women and babies everywhere you turn with all you are going through and dealing with.
As for the injection class, could you have a friend go for you, or have dh take off work and go? Also, maybe if you explained the situation to your clinic and told them you would have to take the whole cycle off because of the class times, they would make an exception and show you personally at a time they have free, maybe before they close or something.
I hope they can help you, if not your definitely deserve a break from the suspense.
Hugs,
Sally

Oh, ((((hugs))) Stephany.

After struggling with infertility, we welcomed our son Noah on March 18, 2010! Formerly a teacher, I am now a breastfeeding, babywearing, stay at home Mom, and I couldn't love it any more!

Thanks Kelly. It's definitely been a tough week! Luckily I had going back to work to focus on... My dr suggests I try IUI three more times using injectables. After that, he basically told me I need to move on to IVF. So, I think I'll do one more natural IUI since I'm not going to be able to use injectables this month. We'll start those in October I suppose. I'm just praying for a BFP in one of those cycles so that we don't have to go on to IVF!
