I have to say that Pompeii was my favorite place I visited on my cruise. Our guide for the day was great. He would have us pretend that we were there when it was still there. Being able to walk around and see it in my mind was incredable. I remember having to learn about all the places I went to in high school, but now that I've been there I will be researching them more indepth. The really sad thing about Pompeii is that when the local people don't want their dogs anymore they drop them off there and leave them. We saw at least 6 abandoned dogs there. I am a firm believer that if you buy an animal you are responsible for them. If you can't take care of them all the time DON"T GET ONE!!!

I went on a Med cruise in August..Pompeii was our last stop. I loved Pompeii, it was fascinating to see how well preserved the streets and homes were. I agree with you on the dogs, it is sad. The tourguide also volunteers at an animal shelter and she was saying that people will just abandon their dogs in Pompeii because they assume someone will take care of it. Sadly, it is a problem all around the Med area: Greece, Turkey and other cities in southern Italy. We saw dogs and cats at every single historical site there:(

It is sad. There are a lot of abandoned cats in Rome too. What else did you see. Who was your cruise through.

We saw Marseilles, went along the French Riviera, saw Florence and the leaning tower of Pisa, Rome, Naples, Malta and Tunisia. It was a jam-packed trip. Oh and we saw Barcelona. There is the most beautiful cathedral. It's called the Sagrada Familia. It was started in 1826 and will not be finished until 2026. I missed all of you too.

Sorry no pizza. When you're with a tour group you have no choice where you eat. We ate at a place where they served us pasta. Did they have the cast of the dog when you were there. That was so sad to see.

We saw the collesium and I have a weird story about that. We saw the leaning tower of Pisa. Through a doorway I caught a glance of the statue of David, the real one. The copy out in public was covered up. We went to Sorrento and Capri. St. Peters Basilica. We stopped at the pond where you throw a coin over your shoulder and you're supposed to go back. My mom did it last year when she went to Italy and never thought it would work. And look, she went back.
