What a day

I had a nightmare of a day with my mother.  I'll do a synopsis since a few already know what's going on...Mom went to the hospital with pneumonia about 4 weeks ago, spent a week and a half in the hospital, another week and a half in rehab, and has been back in the hospital since last Friday.  Well the case manager started talking to me today about thoracic surgeons and procedures to drain an irritated area in my mother's chest and I just called "STOP" to the whole thing and initiated a transfer to my hospital.  Mom has been at a community hospital and I work for an academic medical center so it was just time to escalate.

After a bunch of calls to get things initiated, we got going.  Mom is in transit now and should be to my place in another half hour or so.  I am so stressed out about everything in life right now, I can't even think about TTC stuff.  My diet is totally shot to hell and I'm living on water and candy at this point.  I haven't been to the gym all week and I am utterly exhausted.  At least my mother is coming to a place where I have more control and I know everyone so I can ensure better care.  It's just so frustrating that things escalated to this level.

To top it off, DH is still sick three weeks later and is headed back to his own doctor on Monday.  I think I am going to find myself a nice quiet cave to hide in for the duration!  Thanks for listening to the vent.

oh izzy, i'm so sorry! when it rains it pours, right?? i'm glad that your mom is going to get the best care she can and that you're going to feel much more able to make sure this happens. btw, i'm sure you're in such awesome shape from running that skipping the gym won't hurt...i really hope things start to get easier.

I'm really happy you're getting your mom moved. It will really calm your nerves to know you have more control over her care. Hopefully that will allow things to fall into place and help ease your mind.

Izzy, I'm so sorry your mom is still sick. But I'm glad she will be closer to you and you be have better control over her care. I'm also sorry it's taking it toll on you. Don't forget to take care of you, honey.

Hope your DH gets well soon too. That's a long time to be sick.
