Would've been nice if someone told me!!

So the day after my cancelled IVF cycle I called to find out our next treatment plan. The nurse said it had not been completed by the RE yet. When I spoke to my RE the day my IVF was cancelled he mentioned that we MIGHT do a estrogen patch protocol and when speaking to the nurse she said the same.

I aksed the nurse what that involved & she said after this AF & upcoming ovulation I would start patches then with the arrival of my next AF I would start stims. So I was to call with AF and then we would order the patches.

So I called Sat when AF arrived. The nurse called me back & said that we had an issue. Huh?

She said I was supposed to start lupron on CD 2 which would have been Sun. I asked her what she was talking about because I was told I would be doing patches after O. She said the RE changed my plan and wanted me to do the lupron micro dose protocol, THIS CYCLE!!

Normally that would be great since I wouldn't have to wait an extra month right??Well we had 2 problems with that plan.

1) I would have had to start lupron yesterday & how would I get it on a Sunday? 2)Since we weren't doing any treatments that required DH's presence I told him it was ok to travel for work and as luck would have it he is traveling during the approx time of ER & ET & it's too late too change his travel plans!

In the grand scheme of things it's not a huge deal but I was pretty peeved when I found this out. In defense of the RE's office on the day I spoke to nurse the RE hadn't completed my treatment plan yet so I assumed we were doing the patch protocol since no one advised me differently. However shouldn't someone have called me since the plan had changed & we needed to order medicine for this cycle?

Oh well what's another month..

Sorry this is so long & as always thanks for letting me vent:)

Nat

Oh that's ridiculous, I'd be pretty peeved. I know it is "just" a month to them but when you've been at it as long as we've been you just hate sitting it out. They should've been calling you in your meds a few weeks ago! So I did the microdose lupron protocol and started with bcp's, couldn't they have given you those for a week or something???

Monica,

That is funny that you are questioning the start date because I was doing the same thing yesterday after looking up the protocol online:)

My RE starts everything on CD2. In my IVF cycle that got cancelled I did BW & US and started stims on day 2 as well.

I hope your cycle goes well and endS with a big BFP!!

Good Luck

Thanks Nat!

I feel like we are all just paying our dues until we get that little miracle and we will forget all this IF pain.

I hope your time comes soon, too!!

Oh that's right, I forgot all about that. D'oh!

The lupron didn't bother me at all, hopefully since it's the microdose the effects are less.

I am so sorry that happened, Nat! I would not be a happy camper but hopefully your DH can get his work travel completed and be ready to go when you can get started!

Leslie,

That is good to hear that you didn't have bad side effects from the lupron microdose. Kelly said the same thing too.

I was really annoyed about the screw up when I found out but I am trying to look at it is we already assumed we weren't doing anything this month (other than the patch thing) so I had already had it in my head that this month was a wash anyway. Beside DH HAS to travel for work and he already
