so,

i am having AF cramps and i should have my periods today or tomorrow. i did a HPT 5 days earlier and it was negative. now i have one HPT available at home. but i am thinking why waste it today and why not keep it for the next cycle. these things are costing me too much. this one pack of only two tests was i think somewhere around 15 dollars.

but at the same time, i want to be pregnant so bad just like all of you but i am not getting up to use that stick because of maybe 7 to 8 dollars.

ahhhh.....i think i'm being cheap or maybe, after getting BFN for a few months, i don't think it's worth checking now?

I do not think you are being cheap, I do the same thing. I have one HPT that I am holding on to. Some mornings I want to check then others I do not want to waste it. It depends on my emotions when I wake up. I am afraid if I test it will be a BFN but maybe only because it was too early so there I go out buying another $15 two pack. It is a vicious cycle.

I cannot even begin to imagine how much money I have spent on HPT and OPK. I suppose we are keeping those companies in business!

I dont' think you are being cheap at all! Why are those suckers so expensive anyway?! Geesh.
I hesitate because I don't want to "waste" one on yet another BFN, but another part of me wants so desperately to see a positve that I do it anyway. You could always wait a couple more days and see?
You do what what you need to do..and you either way you are not cheap!
Good luck..I hope you get that BFP!!

Hi Mehvish- I remember seeing your posts in TTCYF. I didn't realize you were dealing with IF or an IF diagnosis- for some reason I thought you had just started TTC. Sorry you had to join us over here, but hopefully you'll find lots of support. These women know all about the various IF treatments and procedures and are wonderful about explaining things, but are also great cheerleaders. Maybe you won't have to be here too long!

I use these tests

http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/3pregtesstri.html

because they are so much cheaper. That way I don't feel guilty about testing!!! And I know they work, that is the way I got my BFP with the ectopic 2 days before the RE said to test.

Me 33, DH 36. TTC since November 2007. Possible miscarriage in January of 2008 (too early for BFP, but all symptoms point to miscarriage). Normal SA in Feb 2009. Later told low motility. HSG showed large (50% of uterus) fundal fibroid in Feb 2009. Hysteroscopically removed in March 2009. Tried to concieve naturally until August 2009. Repeat HSG was normal.

  • 08/09 - 01/10 6 cycles of Clomid and timed BD, all BFN
  • IUI #1 = 01/13/10, BFN.
  • IUI #2 = 3/11/10, BFP! 03/26/10, beta 1 = 57.5, beta 2 (4 days after 1) = 661. Ectopic in right tube. Lap to remove 4/3/10.

Hard for me to say if you are being cheap- I don't even have HPTs in the house! I've only done 2 HPTs in my entire life, and it was back in January when AF was 5 days late. I cant stand testing- I prefer watching my temps and since every month except for January I can see AF on her way, I don't have to waste money or emotional energy on BFNs. I suggest just getting some of the cheapies so that if you want to POAS, you won't be POAn expensiveS!

No, I agree that you're not being cheap. I don't test either because I hate to waste the test too.

However, if you like to test and really want to test I suggest buying some HPT from the Dollar Store! I stocked up but have used all of them and haven't been back by the store to pick some more up. Only $1 a piece so the guilt is gone. :)

Your not cheap. Maybe you are just afraid to see the BFN. I know I am and so I don't do HPT. Have my beta HCG tomorrow. had a little AF cramps, but nothing else. Afraid if I use a HPT that I will get a BFN. If you test you risk disappointment. If you don't test, then you have a few more days of hope. Thats the way I look at it.
