Does anyone see a psychologist?

Does anyone see a psychologist concerning infertility? If so, what questions should I ask over for the phone when trying to select one? I just talked to one dr. who acted like “do you deal with infertility?†was the stupidest question ever. She said no one really “specializes†in it. I said well do you have experience with it or helping people cope with it? I mean, wasn’t that a valid question or am I just stupid??
Also, if you do go do you feel like it helps or has helped at all? I just feel like I can only talk to my husband, friends and family so much about it and even then most of them can't really understand or help.
Thanks for your help!

I don't see a psychologist but sometimes I feel like I would like to talk to someone about
all of this.
Yes, it would be hard to keep it all in!
Hi, I have been seeing a therapist for my infertility for about 3 months. It has helped me a LOT. I interviewed about 5 therapists before selecting this one. There are therapists who specialize in infertility, but I did not end up selecting one. The specialists I found were either very far from where I live (~1 hour drive), didn't have hours that worked with my work schedule, or weren't covered by my insurance. The counselor I chose specializes in couples and grief counseling, and she really has helped me deal with what I'm going through. I don't actually talk to her much about my own treatments--the thing I mostly need help with (and the thing that sent me into therapy) is dealing with all of my friends suddenly getting pregnant after trying for not very long. She has also helped me deal with the sadness I feel around the holidays about not having children.
I found the therapists who specialized in infertility by asking for a referral from my doctor. I found the therapist I ended up choosing by asking a friend who I knew was seeing a therapist (for couples counseling) and was very happy with her.
I agree, there's only so much free therapy you can get from your hubby, family, and friends. :)

Remembering o
I see a psychologist regularly, although not just about infertility. I started going to him when I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown from various stresses in my life and infertility is very much one of those. So I didn't choose him because he specializes in it but we definitely talk about it. And yes, it helps. More than I can even explain.
Good luck.
