Does Asthma automatically make me high risk?

I'm wondering if a history of asthma makes me automatically considered high risk once I get pregnant? I am seriously seriously considering a water birth at a birthing center but they will only take you if you are healthy/low risk. I have had asthma since I was very young but haven't had any symptoms bad enough to warrant any kind of treatment for about two years. So just wondering if I will be considered high risk just because of my history of asthma...also if I will be considered high risk becasue we had to do infertility treatment (IUI)? Thanks for your input!!

That's a good question, and probably something to talk about more in-depth with your doctor. Who do you see when you are having asthma issues? That would probably be the person to talk with. What type of treatment do you normally get when you have a flareup? I have friends that weren't treated any differently, I guess it would all depend on how your pregnancy goes. You can always plan two scenarios, try for your water birth at a birthing center but also keep the option open of having to deliver at the hospital.

Having infertility treatments doesn't make you higher risks unless you end up with multiples. When was your IUI?
